I Gave A Speech On Zoom About Keywords - The Results?

Since the pandemic lock down our Toastmasters Club, much like all others over the world, have been holding their meetings using Zoom. It was my turn to give a speech at our last club meeting this past Monday.

How to use Keywords to rank on the 1st page of the search engines.

This was only a 5-7 minute speech which meant I had to give the concise version. Fortunately it was on Zoom because I could share my screen for my speech. The objective was to research and present a topic of value. What better topic of value than Keywords?

Real Time Search Demo

I decided to first demonstrate the power of keywords by doing a real time search on one of my blog posts using Google.

My introduction explained the process of how everyone does a search on a topic of interest using Google. And that we take for granted the search results that emerge. I asked the group if anybody knew how those posts happened to be on that search page results?

To no surprise nobody did. I told them that I picked the article where the title and the summary most closely matched what I was looking for. Then I asked for confirmation if that was also the criteria they used. And if they didn't like the article they got, wouldn't they exit and look for the next one in the search that was more appealing?

My Website Post As An Example

This was an excellent segue to show my affiliate marketing website and pick an article that I was going to use to demonstrate a search.

The prior speaker gave a talk on why the majority of people happened to have problems with their finances. The answer was schools teach everything in life except how to handle money. Hence, people get into debt and end up staying there. His conclusion was the financial world likes people to get into debt. That is how our economy thrives.

I had no knowledge that was his topic. In preparation for my demonstration I decided to use a post from my website with the title and keyword, "Why Do People Fall For Get Rich Quick Schemes?"

Of course, I took no chances and made sure my article landed on the 1st page of Google before the meeting.

When we give speeches one of the advanced techniques we are taught is to link our speech to one already given if at all possible. It was easy for me to do that with my keyword example.

Ranked On 1st Page

I proceeded to enter the title into the Google search window and voila, as if by magic, there it was. My post appeared on the 1st page of Google as promised!

My next question was would anyone like to learn how to do that? Of course the answer was YES!

I pulled up my Jaaxy Research Platform and proceeded to give a brief explanation on how to use the metrics at the top to improve one's chances of getting ranked on page 1.

Other Factors

However, I made sure I drove home that there was more involved than just picking the right keyword. The author had to work hard in writing a boat load of engaging articles on their website that addressed various topics in a field they are passionate about.

It takes time, but Google eventually recognizes their website as an authority in that field and gives them priority.

In the final analysis it is those who read their article that most influences how well they do. It all starts with the keyword, then that brief summary that follows and how engaged their visitor gets with their content.

My parting words was a challenge for the members to create websites of their own and share their expertise with others. Then they can learn how to use keywords themselves.

We do a round Robin on evaluations and I got real time feedback that was very positive. One of our members who is an IT expert gave me credit that he also learned new things from my speech and would like to learn more,
