For the longest time I was battling writing enough content to meet my goals. Also, my Plugins were lagging at Yellow. It was time to make some changes.

I had just concluded my 15 week series book study project on my Wealthy Affiliate Blog on Think & Grow Rich.

One of the exercises taught was to recite loud twice each day what your goals are in terms of money equivalents, when you expect to achieve it and what price are you willing to pay in terms of learning, effort and action, to achieve your goals.

I began to follow through on this exercise.

Out of the many things I wrote down I would do was to increase my website post frequency and manage my plugins more effectively.

I know that it is not the number of plugins that can be the culprit regarding low site health. But the one's that actively slow down one's site. I had many I was only using on a temporary basis. So I either deactivated them or deleted them. Depending on how useful they are to me.

When I started the Think and Grow Rich book study, I had about 40 posts on my website. I now have 81. My goal is to reach 100 during August. I will do that.

Site Health Progress

I thought it would be a good idea to show a progress report here. It is my way to be accountable while recognizing the Wealthy Affiliate members collectively as my Master Mind Group. Events have proven that this is indeed the case. Here is my Site Health as poor July 27 - 2020.

Every category is 100% except Plugins at 90%. I am happy with that and do not plan to get that to 100%.

Improving Website Impact

In have also taken two other steps to boost the effectiveness of my website.

  1. I had Site Support migrate it to the new super fast server that is still in Beta Form
  2. I had Site Support create a Site Rubix duplicate staging website of the one shown in Site Health.

The purpose is to test GeneratePress to eventually change themes from screenr. The reason being, GeneratePress gives more control of the look of one's web content like font type and size, Heading sizes and line separation. Also, the pull down menus are easier to read.

The purpose of these activities is to make my website have more impact for the reader. I recognize there are many things I will need to do before I can confidently change my theme. But the initial change using the staging site looks hopeful.

A Challenge

I encourage other members to do whatever it takes to make your website have more impact with your visitors.

In my next post I will be sharing data on my website post search engine ranks. And to see what I can do to improve those rankings as time permits.

Please share what steps you have taken to improve your Site Health.

All the best in your Affiliate Marketing business.

Hi Edwin,

Simply awesome! You have made tremendous progress with your website. You have taken "Go Green" to whole new level.

it is important that we improve our websites health so that we can increase their impact on our visitors. You are doing an awesome job! Thank for sharing! Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Great to hear from you Nichola. I appreciate your good wishes. All the best to you.

Edwin

Thank you! You are welcome.

Great work! So, green comes after blue then? ;-) Good to know, am heading that way and will work to get there too. One site is in blue, another one is constantly changing between orange and blue, one is in orange, and the fourth one (where I don't post much since I am focusing on the other three) is in red, ouch, I know ;-)

I am getting there, going to get that green.

Hi Christine, knowing where you're heading is going to help you. I wish you a pleasant journey to greenland!

Cheers.

Edwin

Thank you for sharing Edwin and well done. I continually check how often I use my plugins and if they are used intermittent, I remove them.

I have a testing domain, which Is a mirror of my wordpress installations, and can explore without risk of breaking my niche websites.

Hi Roy,

I recently got a mirror test website. That definitely helps. Glad to hear that works for you too.

Edwin

Hi Edwin, wow your site health looks so impressive. May I ask how many active plugins you left? I deactivated a few as my plugin site health was, red but I am still not in green.
Good luck achieving your August goals regarding writing those posts. It is definitely something I struggle with producing enough content.
Thank you for sharing this progress.
Jude

Thanks Jude. I have 14 installed plugins but only 5 active. Hope that helps.

Edwin

Thanks, Edwin, I appreciate it.
Jude

You're very welcome.

Edwin

Edwin, this is an excellent achievement!

Site Health is one of those often neglected areas that can have a huge impact on your internet presence and UX.

It is much like growing a plant, needing regular care attention and some watering every day. 😊

Keep it up.
You are well on your way now.

Cassi

Thanks for your kind words Cassi. I wish you much success in your business.
