I Dipped My Toe In Bing Ads For The First Time

Black Friday is the perfect time to try out Bing Ads for the first time. Really?

There is so much at stake. Shouldn't I have experimented with this much earlier? Perhaps. Since I was incapacitated for two weeks because of an injury it would have had to be before then. Better late than never.

I reviewed Kyle's Bootcamp series on PPC and got a good idea on how to proceed. Since his video was made in 2015, there have been some changes in the Bing ad placement app design. However, it seemed easy to navigate.

Last week I struggled to design my Black Friday Wealthy Affiliate offer sales page. I followed Kyle's guidelines regarding the placement of links.

1st Link

The end of the first paragraph had the WA affiliate link that led to the Black Friday offer with the banner.

2nd Link

My second link came in the next paragraph and was to my recently updated WA review.

3rd Link

This link directed visitors to my WA Blog Post on Black Friday

4th Link

Finally, I brought it all together like a bow using the WA Black Friday banner that took my visitors back to the Black Friday WA sign in page that I used in the very first link at the top.

Bing Ads

The URL I used was my 2022 WA Black Friday post on my website. This will be run by Bing daily. According the Microsoft, they run their ads as follows:

Bing displays ads across the Microsoft Search Network. This network includes bing.com, yahoo.com, AOL.com, and websites under the Yahoo and AOL umbrella. The network also includes partner sites and search results displayed on Windows 10, Microsoft Office programs, and Cortana

Sounds awesome to me.

Open Questions

Microsoft provides a tracking code that can be inserted within the website code. I have seen Jay do this and will try to figure this out.

How do I find my ad on Bing? I assume all I need to do us to enter the Keyword into the Bing search window. However, I have to wait till my ad is running first. After I submitted my ad I got a message saying that this will happen within 24 hours.

I chose a daily ad budget. I was told that the amount that is used could be slightly less or slightly more. When the WA Black Friday sale ends, this ad will be of no use to me. I will have to learn how to cancel this ad at that time.

Learning Experience

The best way to learn is to read how to do something and then just do it. Any mistakes I make will be all part of this learning experience. Whether I get any clicks and referrals is anyone's guess.

If I get none, I may ask my mentor to review what I did and get his feedback. That also will be a learning experience.

The Waiting Game

All I need to do is sit back and wait. I don't think I can do that. Jay is in the middle of a class series on how to use Topic Clusters to create a series of linked posts. Very interesting stuff this. Perhaps I will use these classes to create my next series of posts.

Have You Created A Black Friday Campaign On Your Niche?

Please share what you are doing for your Black Friday campaign. If not, what do you think about my approach?

All the best to you.

I'm not ready for this now, but this is good to know for when I am ready, then I can take a fresh look at it and the training for it, and try the Bing (and Facebook PPC. All in good time, lol. Have a great day! And best wishes for Black Friday! (As well as your PPC!

Thanks for your good wishes.

Well done, Edwin!

With everything that I currently have going on, I manage to put two BF ads on my book promo site, and that will likely be the extent of it.

I will we watching your campaign with interest!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, if I get any sales I'll be amazed! This is a learning experience. Thanks for commenting
Edwin

I honestly suspect that you will, Edwin!

Jeff

Hi, Edwin

As Abie mentioned, definitely watch Vitaliy’s webinar series on Bing ads.

They contain absolutely everything you need to know to get started properly.

Awesome stuff!

Glad you’re doing better and recovering well!

Frank 🎸

I'll be doing that Frank. Should have watched it before placing the ad. This is a learning experience, except using cold hard cash. Edwin

I am running some Microsoft PPC ADs right now as well.

I am being very thrifty, so I’m only getting a few clicks per day. However, it is driving traffic to my blog post.

If the conversion alignment is optimal, the pay per click, Ad strategy could be very profitable.

But it could suck the money out of my bank account very rapidly.

Hi Brad,

Glad to hear you are also using Bing Ads. I have set a daily budget of $5 since this is my first time. I want to pull the ad after WA ends its BF offer. Do you know how to do that?

Cheers.

Edwin

Yes, on the left of your campaign there’s a little drop-down button that allows you to “enable” or “pause”.

Thanks!

How was it?

You may want to follow up on Vitaliy webinars and going forward.

Hi Abie,

Thanks for the tip. I will check Vitaliy's post on this topic.

Edwin

Hi Abie, I started going through Vitaliy's webinar on Bing Ads. This is a major primer that is going to take me beyond Black Friday. I will use his recommendations in my next Bing ad campaign. Perhaps for Christmas.

My current ad has got almost 400 impressions in 2 days and 12 clicks. No conversions yet. My budget is only $5 a day which will limit my results. After I grasp the lessons of Vitaliy, I will dig deeper into my pockets to increase my budget. But it will still be modest.

Kyle reviewed my campaign plan and thought it was a good one. He gave me tips on adding a few more keywords that I did.

Cheers.

Edwin
