I added a Christmas Gift Affiliate Post to my MMO website - Is that OK?

I'm writing this blog post to share something I did differently to my MMO website. I set this up when I started the Super Affiliate Challenge. It was akin to what one would do through the Affiliate Bootcamp training. Namely, devote it to promoting Wealthy Affiliate to attract new members.

All my posts so far, have focused on that goal. Then recently I came across a High Tech company that has an affiliate program. I love high tech products. So I thought since Christmas is almost here why don't I add a post devoted to making Christmas gift suggestions for the family based on gifts like:

Smart Watches

Smart Phones

Drones

Noise Canceling Headphones

Bluetooth Speakers

And many more gadgets such as smart video door bells, Portable Laser Keyboard, etc . By the way, these pictures are NOT the ones from my website but were selections from the picture library at Site Content.

So why should I break the trend of my website?

Christmas

Well, people are looking for Christmas gifts at this time of the year. And shopping in malls is not as popular as it once was. Online shopping is the thing. Hence, I thought I'd try out this online approach and see how it works out.

Prices

The prices of these products are significantly lower than their competitors. Also, there is a 50% off sale in progress. They can do this because these manufactures have incorporated efficient manufacturing procedures. And they are sold directly over the Internet, targeted at developing countries. Hence, the price savings are given back to the customer.

In addition, if more than one of the same item is purchased, further discounts are given.

Free Shipping

When a customer clicks onto the affiliate site, a 30 minute timer starts. If they make theur purchase before the clock runs out, the shipping is free.

Commissions

These are above average. Once again, they can do this because of far less middle men. This business was designed for Affiliate Marketers and Partners. Most of them are far more experienced than me and have made huge incomes this past year. That was a good sign to join them.

Jay's SEO Checklist

Jay presented a webinar last Friday called The 4 Core Traffic Strategies For Affiliate Marketing. In this the most valuable piece of information was a comprehensive checklist to use on WordPress for our posts. Hence, I used virtually all his suggestions.

My Strategy

At the end of my post I stated that what I was doing here was affiliate marketing. And if anyone wanted to learn how to do this I can recommend a company that teaches this so well. I stated that they could join for free.

But I didn't include a banner or affiliate link in this post. Instead, I provided a link to one if my articles that discussed Affiliate Marketing where I did share a banner with my Wealthy Affiliate link.

I am going to make posts on Instagram, One post per product. Here I shall use the actual picture. The associated website link will be to my Affiliate Marketing post. They can all be purchased through this one website article.

This is also going to be posted on my Facebook and Twitter.

My Questions

  1. In your opinion am I doing the right thing?
  2. Is there anything else I should add?
  3. What other promotional avenues can I use? (Note sadly I do not have an Email list.)

The Picture I used As The Featured Image

So what do you think?

Cheers.

Sounds good to me.

Though I don't do many of them, I do put a few posts with affiliate links on my MMO website, especially if I am doing a review of the company and think it is something other members might want to try. Is that what you mean?

Sounds to me like you are going in a good direction.

Hi Fran,

I haven't started using this approach by placing links on my MMO articles for other products. I created a new post that was exclusively dedicated to selling these electronic gadgets. Its an experiment and I will see where this goes.

Thanks for your comments.

I think you are in the right direction. Being new at this I have a question maybe you can answer or someone else. I saw somewhere on the WA website affiliate links are only to be posted on your blog, and not the WA website. Is that also for anything else your promoting, except the WA website? Correct me if I am wrong, I just want to know the right thing to do. What you are doing though, looks good. Good luck.

We can talk about our websites like I did here,. But we can't post a link to it nor any affiliate links. However, you can post all your websites and social media on your profile page. And if you want to say something about your website that is training related, you can ask your reader to check it out there. People rarely do so this is not something we do often.

These rules are here to prevent members promoting stuff otherwise the forums would get out of hand. We don't sell to each other. But we can teach here.

When you reference anything on WA that has an affiliate link, never use that in your blogs here. Instead use the URL. I made that mistake when I first joined.

Of course, you can use those affiliate links on anything here on your website posts if it is relevant. These have your WA affiliate code on them. If anyone visiting your website clicks those, they will land on your WA sign up page. After they sign up for free or pay, they will have access to that article.

I hope this helps.

Earl Nightingale said, "Try giving yourself away." Implying that you can't do it. It always comes back compounded.

Now John, that's an interesting take. I used to purchase loads of cassettes and CD's from Nightingale Conant. The lessons Iearned were very helpful.

Earl knew a thing or two.

Thanks for the thought.

Love it
