Certified Commenter - Is It Worthwhile To Become Certified?

I got my Certified Commenter status originally well over a year ago. At that time once you were able to maintain a running total of 50 plus comments, you could earn $0.50 for every two comments you gave.

The Mystery Of Loosing Being Certified

Maintaining that running 50 total was, and still is a challenge. Here's why. The total number of comments you give in one 24 hour period, gets wiped out after 30 days.

Hence, you could have 64 comments one day and 49 the next. The reason being that 30 days ago you gave 15 comments and they just got wiped out. It took me a while to figure that out by asking a question and got an educated response.

That system worked well as long as the comments were of high quality. However, certain members started to provide half-baked hurried comments that did not meet the objectives of this program, just to earn the payout of real money.

A System Change To Maintain Integrity

I have noticed that today, instead of a guaranteed payment every two comments over 50, the interval can vary. So you never know when you are going to earn that 50 cents.

Is that a problem? I don't think so. My conclusion is that the new approach has weeded out those who were in it just for the cash payout. I have noticed that the comments I now receive are from members who are not in it for the money, but to help other members with worthy comments. There are a few exceptions, but these are rare.

Does any other certified commenter feel the same way as I do? Please share your comments below.

My Current Site Comment Status

The screenshot of my current status is below. My goal is to maintain my status as a Certified Commenter by writing an average of 3 comments a day. It doesn't take much time to do that, and the benefit to those who request and receive comments is worthwhile.

You got to give two comments to earn a credit to request one. Of course, there is also an option to purchase credits if you are new to Site Comments and wish to get a flying start.

In answer to my question, I highly recommend offering to give comments and to get certified.

Cheers.

Edwin

I searched Certified commenter came to your blog post to get refresher. This is great understanding and good to know about how many comments a day can keep you on track.

The main thing that concerns me is when I request comments, there are still some posting comments just to get that credit. I like to receive comments that help concerning in-depth knowledge of my articles. Now just reading titles or name of website and leaving a comment.

How often do you decline comments? I try not to decline but sometimes do!

Hi Jannette,

You make some excellent points here about comments.
It is a challenge that I also experienced.

I have also declined comments.
However, in doing so, I also provide feedback to the Commenter as to why I declined their comments.
That way it is used as a learning/training opportunity.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Janette,

So glad you found this post and benefitted from it.

About a year ago this system was regularly abused by the same group of members to earn credits for cash. They repeated similar phrases no matter what the topic was. Thankfully, WA filtered their comments out and they have left since their game was up. At that time I used to reject at least one comment per post.

Since then I have rejected about one every two months. You have the option of defining what kind of comments you want. If the commenter doesn't meet your criteria, you have every right to reject their comments and state why in the response.

I hope this helps.

Talking about comments - I used up some community credits by asking for 30+ comments. To give back some life to some old posts.

Funny thing is, only 5 people replied. I'm still expecting 13 more and even though it was 4 hours since the latest comment given, I'm concerned that there aren't more people giving comments like before.

The last time I use Site Comments was in July - things seem to have changed since then. It looks like there are more people giving comments in the Give and Take thread that Kyle put up for us.

Basically we are meant to give 3 comments on other people's websites as well as post our site link for people to comment on ours.

People are not really using Site Comments because of this thread being available. None of the certified commenters commented on my site. Or maybe that's just an oversight.

Stella, I think that you are on to something here.

Thanks for sharing this important trend. I must find that give and take thread. It may be a better way to go.

Cheers.

I have been a certified customer a couple times, but I decided to stop focusing on being certified because when I first did it, I was focused on earning that money, but realized I was not always giving my best comments and that's not fair to those needing the comments for their website(s) that they are putting a lot of hard work into.

I haven't given out comments in quite awhile, but have been requesting comments a lot for my articles on my website. I'm also leaning towards buying comment credits, but I think I'm going to get back into the habit of commenting to help others because that's what we should all be doing here more than anything is helping others succeed.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for sharing your experience with Site Comments and future plans. All the best to you.

I am a certified commenter, but recently I noticed that my number of comments goes down if I am inactive for 2 or 3 days. I find it frustrating, because I am in it to leave valuable comments for other members just like I would like to receive them. I was considering dropping the site comments section because I feel sometimes overwhelmed with my other tasks, and leaving enough site comments just to keep my status and not to lose my amount of comments seems a little too much on top of everything else. Then I started leaving comments again and it went up, but I have now been inactive for 2 days, so my guess is that the number of comments went down again and I am back at square 1, I find it increasingly frustrating and I still have not decided whether to leave site comments and just use the comments thread or whether to keep on using site comments ...

Hi Christine,

When you see a drop in that number it means that the total number of comments you gave 30 days ago was deducted. Because of that I give three comments every day and know that I will loose three in a months time. As long as I maintain that 3 each day, I will accumulate enough to not drop below 50.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

Thank you for explaining!

Maybe just use it to give your own comments a boost to the priority queue by doing 10 comments in a day whenever you want comments on your website?

EDWIN sll that you said sounds great to me. I am doing my best in this area but i am determined to do more inclding answering back those people who give me comments, why to thank them for helping me the in the ssimilar maner that I help make comments for other.
Regards,

Tyrone

Sounds like a good idea Tyrone. Google likes to see us responding to people who make comments on our posts. And they reward us by sending more traffic our way.

Thanks for commenting.

Cheers.
