An Unintended Consequence Of Site Comments

I wonder if others who are active in participating in Site Comments have experienced the phenomena I am going to describe.

Have you read posts that tell you about amazing things you would like to be involved with? For example have you read about products and services that were so enticing you wanted to get them for yourself?

Enticing Goodies

What about other money making opportunities that seemed like a great idea? Almost like new shiny objectsl

Or programs that could help you in your business?

For example:

  • Email marketing programs.
  • Lead generation programs.
  • Self improvement courses

Have you felt like clicking those affiliate links and buying these things?

Have You Resisted The Temptation Or Not?

I know I have. In fact, I have gone one further and took the plunge. This is not something I do lightly

However, when I see something that can be of benefit to me, why not? And in the process help the Wealthy Affiliate member whose post you are reading?

Can you share your views what you think of this possibility. And if you have been tempted have you taken the plunge and why? Or were you able to resist even if you felt otherwise?

This is what I call the unintended consequence of Site Comments. What do you think?

Inquiring minds would like to know! That means me aha!

Cheers.

Edwin

I do follow the links that I think are plausible for me, Edwin. And I will share posts from the site comments feature if I think they will benefit my community. For me, it's more than just commenting to gain the points. It's a true connection with other WA sites.

Hi Diane,

I love your approach. Thanks for sharing.

Edwin

Hi Edwin...thanks for raising an interesting subject that leads to other questions in my mind.
In the 2 and a bit months I’ve been here I’ve reviewed some interesting sites and added comments to others (if I have had something positive to say). I have been tempted to look at interesting products but not succumbed
mainly due to being busy. I can however there may be a time in the future when I find an offer enticing enough to buy. That would of course be my choice and I think that would be a natural result where appropriate. But I do not know if this fits within the WA rules.

I have given feedback on a site, demonstrated some relevant experience, and been asked if I am willing to write some posts. This has to be one of the benefits of this community. I do not know if there any rules on this.

In another situation, when answering a question, in order to add credibility to my response I commented that I am writing a book on the subject. Somebody else then asked if they can buy a copy when available. I explained that they’d have to wait some time because it’s only 60% ready and I’m focused on building a couple of blogs. I offered to help her for free. If I wanted to charge for this service I do not know if there are any rules for this.

Hi Richard,

It is good that you’re thinking like an entrepreneur. That’s what WA is about.

I believe it’s ok to buy products on the sites you leave comments, And it’s ok to say so in your comments as it helps the author. And that’s one of the goals of Site Comments.

You cannot sell advice on Wealthy Affiliate. In fact, we cannot market our businesses within this platform.

WA allows us to place all our websites and social media addresses in our profile page that is accessible to all members.

If another member contacts you independently through these sites, by all means you can develop a dialog with them outside WA and market to them if they opted in to your email list for example. Just don’t do it on WA.

Does this make sense? I wish you all the best.

Cheers.

Edwin

Thanks Edwin for clarifying this.
I did not know we can publish links on our profile. That is very useful... not that I'm ready for that yet.

I understand most of this... and all 3 of my scenarios seem to fit because they are about support and collaboration... I guess there might be exchange of skills over time such as, 'thanks for reviewing my site, can I reciprocate', but no cash.

Less clear would be providing useful materials to people where perhaps I have a special level of expertise in a subject that I know would be useful to someone, and could provide information in some media form or other that would normally include advertising. For example, a few years ago I wrote a 'lead magnet' that could be of real use to someone, which contains a call to action. It would be inefficient to create a special version of such information.
Do you happen to know how WA would view such a situation?
Thanks
Richard

One thing I like to do is WAIT. If I see something that interests me I bookmark the resource and wait a couple of days. When I revisit the site I can make a decision that is not as influenced by the copywriting of the sales page and more upon what my needs really are.

Great way to go Gregory. Thanks for commenting.

Hi Edwin. Spot on! There are a couple of sites that I've visited through Site Comments that I've fallen in love with. I even find myself visiting other posts on that site to consume more.

Some posts are so informative with a laid back feeling that they are irresistible. Nonetheless I've not purchase anything yet. I just satisfy my curiosity.

Thanks for the opportunity for this deliberation.
Carol

Glad to read your comments Carol. Thanks!

Edwin

Hi Carol,
I can completely relate to your comment.
Thank you.

Hanco.

Thanks Johannes.

Many on the WA platform have good advice and products to offer Edwin. It is a case of picking the ones that will help you the most.

As long as you can save time with the product then it is usually a good buy, because you will have more time to spend on your projects.

Derek

Thanks for your comment Derek. Very helpful.

Edwin

You're welcome Edwin.
