An SEO Experience - Can It Be Leveraged?
Have you ever been in the middle of an SEO experience not of your own making, but someone else's? That is how I found myself in the early hours of Friday the 11th October morning. I didn't realize it at that time.
Several news agencies interviewed me. ABC News had a TV crew there who also interviewed me on live TV for 4 minutes.I coined the phrase to describe the Saddle Ridge Fire as, A Whole Curtain Of Fire. If you Google that phrase you will find loads of articles citing my interview where I used it. More if you add my name. Little did I know at the time how my words would spread like wild fire. Not only in appearing on page 1 of Google but blanketing several pages!
Unwittingly I was part of a successful SEO experience created by these agencies who Google considers Authority Sites.
Can I Leverage This Situation?
Just think about it. I wrote a blog here where I compared the structure to a home to an Affiliate Marketing business. What if I expanded on this idea on my website and included links to my interviews?I want to explore if there are ways I can use this to give me some leverage in my Affiliate Marketing experience. Can anyone here advise me if this is worth pursuing at all? My goal is to use disasters in general to show marketers that their businesses will experience disasters, not of fire, but of things going wrong for many reasons.
Instead of giving up, they can use these adversities to learn how to overcome them and become stronger. If I can find articles about buildings that were designed to withstand earthquakes for example and provide links, would that be acceptable since I will be using them as an analogy?
The Benefit
One of the benefits I can see is these sites will be authority sites. The downside is they are not directly related to Affiliate Marketing. However, the story I will be telling does create the link I want. The benefit is Google may look kindly on my post and boost my SEO ranking.
What do you think guys?
Please tell me if this has a chance of working out. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
I need to act fast while the Saddle Ridge Fire is fresh in the news. In a few days time it will have been forgotten.
I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks in advance.
Edwin

Great post Edwin. I agree with the other comments. The best way to look at a challenge or setback is to use it as a stepping stone to higher ground. I suggest you get on it on get to that higher plane. All the best of success to you.

Go for it! It's the term you coined so if anyone should capitalize on it, it should be you!
Thank God you survived such a tragic situation!
Much Success to you,

Edwin, you’re not barking up the wrong tree. Excellent choice. You survived a horrible experience. You’re not taking advantage of it, you’re using it to help a lot of people. Go for it!

Go for it Edwin, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, you could gain a whole host of new visitors who know little about affiliate marketing and want to learn. The possibilities are endless.
