I found it inspiring to have learned this lesson in another seminar. There is nothing new here. However, it is worth repeating.

Hence, I thought, why not share it with the members at Wealthy Affiliate? I will first list them and then relate them to Affiliate Marketing from the perspective of Wealthy Affiliate. So let's dive in.

  1. Create a structured plan to develop our skills
  2. Find a successful mentor to guide us through the process
  3. Spend time practicing the process
  4. Spend time learning about ourselves
  5. Gather the resources we need when starting out

Create A Structured Plan

What is a structured plan you may ask. It is a list of tasks, like stepping stones that will take you to our destination = the financial goals we wrote down when we joined Wealthy Affiliate.

The tasks can he to complete the OEC or Affiliate Bootcamp, Larning new skills like how to use Social Media to promote our website content. Starting a YouTube Channel. Actually, whatever we feel is necessary to help us achieve our goals.

It is more than that though, We need to attach a timeline to these tasks. Including what date do we want to achieve the dollar earnings we planned on. If we do not schedule when we are going to accomplish these tasks, our goals will forever remain a dream instead of becoming reality.

Find A Successful Mentor

When embarking on something new, having a mentor can speed up the education process. Learning from our mentors mistakes and wisdom, can shave valuable time off our timeline to achieve our goals.

Lawyers, doctors and other professionals when starting out all have mentors. Hence, it makes sense to have a mentor in learning the Affiliate Marketing business.

But where do we find one?

Members who signed up through successful Wealthy Affiliate alumni, have one. If you are not sure, it will most likely be the first member who wrote on your profile, apart from Kyle and Carson.

On the other hand you could have been signed on by someone who is not experienced, or left WA. What then?

Wealthy Affiliate provides several other options. Successful members make themselves known here in their blogs, when they reach out to help others and in the training they create.

Connect with them on the platform by commenting on their posts. Ask them questions. Check out their training. Build rapport.

You never know that one of them may be willing to help you out occasionally.

Bear in mind that these successful individuals will be very busy with their businesses. Many will be mentoring their own referrals. Be mindful of their situation when you contact them for assistance.

Don't forget that many of these successful members spend time on live chat. Ask questions there and you will receive answers in real time.

Practice The Process

We are taught a great deal of expertise on this platform. We owe it to ourselves to put into practice what we learn. And we need to do this as often as possible.

Practice does indeed make perfect. Part of the process is to try and fail. Failing one's way to success is a common trait of successful people. As long as one learns from these failures.

Part of our structured plan must be to practice what we learn, done to a timeline.

Learn About Ourselves

This can be the most tip in the list. We all have strengths and weaknesses. How well do we know what these are?

The more time we look seriously within to study our own selves, we can find out important information that we can use to exercise our strengths and compensate for our weaknesses.

For example, one of our failings can be the lack of willingness to be patient. We want success now, not later. It doesn't work like that.

We have to pay our dues. And keep at it until we make that breakthrough to the next level in our journey to success.

It is by being consistent that we develop the discipline to succeed.

One of the reasons I created the Think and Grow Rich Blog series here was for this very reason. To help me understand my strengths and weaknesses. And in the process help others to do the same.

The eventual goal is to truly think and grow rich. Isn't that an amazing concept taught by Napoleon Hill.

Gather The Resources We Need

One of the amazing benefits of being a Premium Member in Wealthy Affiliate is to have at our fingertips almost all the resources we need. I say almost. No system provides everything for everyone. We are all unique.

There are plenty of resources available outside Wealthy Affiliate that could be the one that we need to complete the jigsaw puzzle to help us succeed.

We can count ourselves fortunate that we have most of what we need right here. It is our responsibility to take advantage of it all.

Can You See Something Amazing?

These 5 tips can be applied to many other areas of our lives. Whenever we create a goal to achieve something important to us no matter what that is, following these tips will help us achieve those goals more efficiently.

One of the better outcomes is to achieve our goals sooner rather than later.

Please share your impressions of these 5 tips, Which one's are you following? Are there any that you need to give more attention to?

I wish you all the best in your affiliate marketing journey.

My referrer suggested me to join WA without knowing a nature of affiliate marketing. When I informed him about the process of making money here, he quit WA. I have noticed that the experts were too busy to help someone like me who could ask questions back and forth until I understood. I was even told that no one would get paid for helping others by one of the expert who answered my questions repeatedly. In this case, I should ask Kyle or Carson.

Hi Tomoko,

Thanks for your response. I am sorry to hear that your sponsor quit. And that you are having problems finding successful members to help you.

Kyle and Carson have created a culture of paying it forward. Giving help is totally voluntary as nobody gets paid to do that.

This is how it is supposed to work. When you are new and need help, you can get it but it requires certain actions to be taken. After you become knowledgeable, we are encouraged to help others who ask.

There are some members here who are very generous of their time. Marion Back is one such person. Others are DianeScorpio and ChrystopherJ. Please contact them if you need help.

Another way is to use the Help Center to ask your questions. Also, if you start to type in your question in the shaded box above, drop down topics will appear that may have the answer you are looking for.

Even if you had a mentor, like I do, I rarely approach him for help. Before I do that, I go through all these other resources I mentioned. If I do not find my answer I send him a PM. I suggest doing the same thing before contacting these members who I told you about.

I hope you are able to get answers to your questions in good time. I wish you all the success in the world.

Cheers.

Edwin

I don't consider the person I signed up under as my mentor. I was just another number to him but it's ok. When I needed help, I looked in the gray "need help" box at the top and usually someone had written a helpful blog. If not, you can always go to chat and interact there.

However, I found that generally the training (either Kyle or Jay) covered pretty much everything I was having issues with. So, mentor or not, this forum can lead you to success if you put in the time/effort.

Hi Edwin,

Thank you for your feedback. I learned to find some training from a gray bar when no one answered my questions. I was able to resolve a problem from the training I saw, then, I contacted that person to express my appreciation.

I had some questions which took me a few months to resolve. So I try not to worry about things I don't know at this time, because I will know later.

I have learned that helping others will help me to review lessons I have learned before, so I try to help others the best of my ability.

Regards,
Tomoko

Hi Debbi,

You got the right idea. If you click the Help Center, you will find that Kyle and Carson are the resident helpers. And the third person is the person who signed you up.

Sadly for many, they are not active or leave. The best approach is to be self reliant which is good training in any kind of business.

All the best to you. And thanks for sharing.

Edwin

Yes, I know WHO he is. He's just never been active in my WA life. I like being self reliant anyway. The information sticks with me better.

Love your attitude Debbi.

Thanks Edwin, Sometimes all the skills and knowledge we receive here is overwheming. As you say we need to structure a plan.

Thanks for the post.

Great to hear from you. That was a good point you made.
Cheers.
Edwin
