Watch Your Mouth Or Else....

When you were growing up, chances are you heard that phrase or variations of it many times. If you haven't, you were probably a really well mannered kid or had parents that were very laid back. Lucky you!

Watch your mouth was basically a warning that you had been "talking greasy" aka being disrespectful. When you heard that phrase, you knew it was probably best to shut the hell up or rephrase your comment quickly. Otherwise you were going to face the wrath of the person you offended.

Well I think that warning is applicable to many of internet marketers in this business and some of the things we say about ourselves.

  • Watch Your Mouth If You say, I'll give this a try for a couple of weeks or months and see how it works out.
  • Watch Your Mouth If You say, I'm intimidated by technology and I don't think I can do this.
  • Watch Your Mouth If You say, I'm not a sales person and don't want to sell to people.
  • Watch Your Mouth If You say, I'm not really good at writing.

These might as well be curse words. Because that's basically what you're doing when you talk like this. You're cursing your future by using negative phrases to describe your current circumstances. This business is hard enough without you speaking negatively over your situation. We have outsiders, family members, co-workers and friends that do this for us already. LOL

Look I'm not arguing that any of the fears you have above aren't valid or true. But constantly speaking or dwelling on them isn't helping your plight either. You're a member of one of the best internet marketing communities (if not the best). You have access to people and resources that can help you address these concerns. So instead of spending so much time speaking on what you may not have, focus on what you do have here and use it to your full advantage.

If you don't have anything good to say about someone, don't say anything. Well that applies to you and your business my friend! Do yourself a favor and watch your mouth from now on OR ELSE!

What do you guys think? Have you been "talking slick to yourself and not realizing it? Chime in below...

Great post Eddy! It's amazing how the words out of our mouth go in our ears to our brain and molds us - either up or down. I choose UP!

So true. People just don't realize how powerful those words can be!

Hi Eddy, thanks for this post! Lately I've not allowed myself to have a pity party. I've been doing a lot of self talk. Right now I'm believing. If I don't write I don't WIN! Ha!

You're welcome Tina! That's the right attitude for success! Keep having those positive self talks and act on it!

Hi Eddy, you are so right, it is so easy to put yourself down, limit your potential, take the easy option, I think this is due to the fear of the unknown. Can I.. Will I ... Should I ... ? Then throw in a little more procrastination and hey the jobs done! I dont think I can do that so I will go home, have an easy life!

When you face your fears, have a go, take on an "I can" attitude or at least "I can give it a try" attitude, you will find it's not as bad as you thought it would be. Yes you may get a few slap downs but that's usually from people who are scared of you stepping out and doing what they are afraid of doing, " "shxt this person stands out from the crowd," that sort of thing! You will see massive and I mean massive growth in your personal
self esteem!
Sorry did not want to offend using the short word "shxt" Hey Ho!
To your success!
Bernie

Well said Bernie! I couldn't agree with you more. You know I wasn't offended with the way I "cuss". LOL

Good post, Eddy! Reminds us in a way that grabs our attention and is clear and easy to read. Thank you!

Thanks Jody!

Wow you brought back memories with that one Eddy, but I could totally relate to where you was going with it. Thanks Eddy

LOL, I don't like reliving those memories because it usually followed some type of punishment. LOL

This is a nice (and timely post). I was JUST BEGINNING to feel down a little. The reason is that I picked a niche which is too competitive for my current ability. Now I have to start all over from scratch. The new niche I have chosen is MUCH less competitive. Thanks for posting this...

You're welcome man! Changing niches is part of the course my friend. We all do it until we find the right one for us. It's not a failure or reason to feel bad. It just means you just got closer to the proper path to your SUCCESS. Pun intended. LOL

Great point Ed. People should be using phrases like I am going to learn how to...... and I can learn ...... which gets rid of all the negativity.

You got it Lauren! It's subtle differences in the language but has major implications in our lives and our businesses.

ohh i understand thanks fro the tip

You're welcome.

This has been a struggle for me the bulk of my adult life. Believing that I can't, when the truth is that I can. Thanks for your input.

Gene, I think we all struggle with this. So it's important to be mindful of it especially how you speak of yourself. I always have to catch myself and the words I use to describe me or my situation. It's a bad habit we all need to work on.

Am i Don't understand ?????? what you mean with this to the entire community

It basically means don't talk bad to yourself about what you can't do in this business. The language barrier may affect your understanding of this article because of the catch phrase I used.
