Will you be my Grandmother?
Will you be my Grandmother?
Scarlett and I have been passionate about our journey with our Hospice patients.
We learn so much, and have been given so much re life lessons. I mean how can we not?
I saw one of my favorite patients today. For privacy reasons we will call her Katherine.
She is 98 years old. When I arrived she was sitting in her wheelchair at the dinning table with her hair perfectly in place, her face made up beautifully and nails perfectly polished.
She greets me with a smile and clapping her hands with glee.
She had an envelope in her hand and was applying a snowman and snowflakes to the envelope. Nothing is written on the envelope, nor is there anything in the envelope.
She said “oh please will you mail this to my Grandmother, I think she lives in East Ridge, she is so good to me and my older sister, she is the best Grandmother ever in the world and she will love this because I made it?”
She was so happy and proud to be giving something so special to her Grandmother.
I replied “ I will be proud to take care of this “
Obviously her Grandmother has long passed but what a blessing for both Katherine and I.
She in her mind was doing something so beautiful for her Grandmother and I in my heart was doing something so beautiful for Katherine! It was a win- win all the way around!
What a beautiful moment and opportunity!
Sometimes we get so busy in life with life we miss out on so many “ precious opportunities”
We encourage you all to slow down and caress those special moments.
Will you please share with us something special that has randomly presented itself to you ?
Thanks,
Elaine and Scarlett

What a legacy!
I met a young girl in a grocery store locally.
It was a busy day and a small snow was coming.
The girl waS working the self check out lanes and I know I saw several people being short with her.
As I was checking out and pushing my cart towsrds the door this young girl asked for a hug.
I was taken ny surprise and said What?
She said it again
I need a hug.
I gave her a huge hug snd I was grinning ear to ear.
I told her it would be alright and patted her head.
I don't know who benefitted more from that simple gesture.
Her or me

Hello Elaine and Scarlett,
Your thoughts in this post will struck memories of all our love ones that have gone to the other side of this lifetime.
Well done and Thank you.
Yes, so beautiful a story. So precious indeed. My God mother is in a nursing home and she is so special to me. My mother has long passed and she was my mother's best friend, but when I look at her I still see my mother. We need to not forget those in places like that. They are so special.

Wow, Thanks for sharing....Awesome Post!
This post really hits home as I currently take care of my elderly grandparents. Not only was I raised by them, but now I get the opportunity to live out many beautiful moments with them daily.
Returning to them all of the love, kindness and caring they gave me growing up. It's a Beautiful Thing :-)
Keep up the great Writing!!
