Hello everyone,

I want to make a database file backup. I've exported the xml file from wordpress and it doesn't seem to import this on a new website which I used with the

Not creating the user is not a big deal. It will just be the new admin, and you can change it to Daniel.

Check to see if your posts are up. Those errors are likely images that did not copy correctly. You can download your wp-content folder from FTP, then upload that to your new site.

There will always be some errors when transferring sites and you have to fix them on the new site to get things how you like.

I did the ftp copy succesfully it works! I still don't understand why I get the errors though? I think I have created a successful backup so far. Apart from the contact form. For some reason it's not copied correctly:

http://surf2.siterubix.com/my-surfboard-bike-rack-my-experience-in-buying-one-in-costa-rica

If your contact form didn't copy correctly, you can just re upload the plugin you used and redo the page. There will always be a few things that didnt' copy exactly.

I tried to go to your site on chrome, but "the site can't be reached"

Bots are finding your website on search engines.

Follow through the steps and make sure akismet and SI Captcha is running.. If not, the steps will go through this.

Also, Remove the check mark from "Anybody can register"
This is located under General Settings in your WordPress dashboard.

This month I will be working for my client and most likely installing google analytics. Does it need to be on her e-mail account? She has 4 different websites. 1 blog, 3 for her

You can use your account and put an analytics plugin in the website with stats that way she will not have to log into to your account to see her Google analytic stats :-)

your client will need there own account

You can use a separate account for her, or you can use YOUR account and give her access to just her website. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/give-access-to-other-users-in-google-analytics

In another wordpress website that I am working on there is no header options. E.g H1, H2, Bold, and all those other text formatting options. How come? please help?

I haven't come across a theme without any options listed in the wordpress editor like this. What theme is it that you're using?

Usually you can find them in the Wordpress editor when you're either adding a new post/page or editing one. There should be a "Toolbar toggle" button on the top row, furthest to the right, which should open more options. This used to say "show/hide kitchen sink" if I'm remembering correctly....maybe this theme still calls it that, I'm not sure.

Hope this helps some, but it's hard to say without knowing the theme. Best wishes and let us know if you still need help. :)

I believe it depends on what type of website template that you are using. I need to see which site you are working on. But try going to your customize page.

Just wondering why text is not properly copied

http://www.cost

I paste my content from Word into the WordPress editor all the time but I first open the "Text" tab on the editor as instructed by Kyle.

When you bring up the editor by default you are looking at the "Visual" editor area. You have to click the "Text" tab and paste your Word file into that area. By pasting your Word content in there WP will strip out all of the hidden code that Word (and Google Docs) adds to your content.

So just paste it into the "Text" area of the WP editor. Check for any text errors which will be underlines in red, fix them if there are any, then switch back to "Visual" and you are done.

As advised - never copy directly from Word to WP - there is all sorts of nasty code in the word documents which if not cleared out will mess up your webpages. :) Beverley

I know, my client sent it to me in word. I didn't want it like that! I always type in wordpress. isn't there something I can do?

Sure there is, write your own app to strip the &%$#"* codes of the Word or

Hello Dzimmerman,

It is not always a good idea to do a straight copy/paste from Word to WP.
I prefer to type everything out on a pure text editor like Notepad++, it is powerful, free and does not have all the little embedded codes you have on Word documents.

The short is Open Notepad then go to WORD and grab the text you want, drop on the Notepad.

Press Control A , followed Control X
Go to WP, ensure that the cursor is showing and do a Control V

Done!

Repeat as required.

Thanks Jonicas! I think you just saved me from a potential problem.

Tammi,

Whilst WORD is very convenient in a lot of ways but it can also be a pain in the butt for these apparent simple operations.

I recommend a text editor for writing out posts and such, Notepad++ is FREE, you can get several useful addons such as spell checker, word counter, etc

I am glad that my tip was helpful to you.

Yes, I know but my client insist on sending files through word. I try to explain that it's double work. but she is the boss.
