Website of the Week: Car Niche
I personally think to be successful you have to see success. A huge turning point for me was when I started studying niche websites that were doing well. You start to notice trends in terms of keyword selection and other factors like word count.
I thought maybe once a week or two I'd go over in depth a website that's doing well so you can get ideas for your own sites.
This week I'd like to share a website I found a while ago that's doing very well and is one that you could beat if you decided to try.

This website mainly just focuses on different accessories for cars in the form of best of lists (my favorite kind of keyword). As you can see they get a staggering amount of traffic from these posts too.
I'm really not sure how much this website makes but My Car Needs That follows the same principles as I do with me site (lots of best of lists). I get about $4500 per 50,000 views so this site could potentially get over $45,000 a month, although I doubt that's the case. I'd definitely say this website makes at least $10,000 to $15,000 a month if it's getting those traffic numbers, though and maybe more.
Take a look at the content on this website too.There's nothing special about it. Any person at Wealthy Affiliate could get a website like this in 18 months if they tried. All it would take to match this website is time and effort - that's it.
I truly believe keyword selection and research is the single most important part about affiliate marketing. If you develop a good keyword plan you can have a website like this and be earning real money. Money that lawyers and doctors make.
And if you've had no success so far and it's been past 6 months, use the principles of this website to get ahead. Find a niche that's fairly broad and start cranking out best of lists. Write a few hours a day and always be researching keywords and finding products.
You could even start a car website like this one and be successful. If you do decide to compete against this website I would mix some more how to's and maybe lengthen the best of posts a little. I actually think this website is playing with fire a bit by having so many affiliate posts and so few non affiliate posts.

Just one question for you, how do you find these sites?
Do you search for keywords related to a niche and then
select the top ranking sites for that keyword?
I always just researching different niches and keywords.. a good way to do that is to go into Amazon and click the department tab, You can get a lot of ideas that way. I google keywords and then find websites. Then I look at their traffic numbers and stuff like that.

Always loving seeing posts from you and this is no different. :) Where do you go to get traffic stats of other sites? I have tried semrush but the stats don't seem to match my Google Analytics when just looking at my own site. Would love to know how to snoop on other sites! ;)

I love snoopy on website lol.. and I use similarweb.com. I don't think it's perfect but it gives a good ball park. If they say this site is getting 750,000 clicks it could really be 500,000 but it's close enough.
Ahh, I did mean I used similar web... it seemed way off when comparing GA with just my own site. I wonder why that is or what that difference is because it's quite a lot.
I'm not sure how it works.. you can actually connect your site to similarweb and it'll give accurate readings.
Awesome. I noticed that there is a fairly consistent dip in traffic for a period of time. It's both in this and in the techgearlab site you showed last week. You think that it's something to do with the abundance of affiliate links on the site? Or something else?
Traffic just dips.. some keywords are hotter during certain times of the year. For instance, with my website I started January getting around 2,000 clicks a day and two weeks later I was getting around 8,00 clicks a day and now it's back to around 1800 clicks a day (this was in a two week span lol). I obsessively check my rankings and my keywords weren't going down. You just kind of have to roll with it and not it let is stress you out

Thanks for sharing Dylan. How do we create those multiple tabs under a menu and direct relevant posts to those? I am really struggling with that. I am aware, we can do so using categories but that displays the category name on top e.g
categories: how to guides.

Yea i am doing that but it displays the category name at the start of that page like this:
"category : how to guides"
That's what i am trying to get rid of. But thanks anyway. I think that's part of the theme, maybe.
