It's a new year tonight and there's going to be a HUGE shift in Google's search results - 2016 keywords disappear and 2017 keywords replace them. Write as many "Best of 2017" as you possibly can for the next few months; I've done very well with them. They rank high and convert and are available in all niches.

For example: Best keyword research tools 2017, best affiliate programs 2017, wealth affiliate review 2017, how to make money online 2017, best niches 2017 and on and on and on.

Hope you take this advice!

Hi Dylan!

I just read through almost all of your posts here because I find them to be very helpful! I just got my website up and running not very long ago (about a month ago) and am getting a little anxious because I've been targeting good keywords but none of my posts has even been ranked under any of them yet :( Then I found the post that you wrote almost a year ago and almost all the other ones, they are helpful and they've cheered me up a lot!
I will definitely be trying out your new advice!
Thanks a lot for all the information! And I'm now a follower of yours :)

That's so great! It's really good to see some real successful stories that are happening around you (sort of..)

I'm in the dog supplies/dog technology niche. I wrote a couple reviews on some dog technologies. https://dogtechdiscovery.com/ Here's my website if you're interested in checking it out and see if it's on the right track.
Some of my keywords are dog crate review, dog video cameras and a couple other ones. They all have pretty low QSR (<=100). So I felt like my keywords are ok, just wasn't sure why none of my posts has been ranked under any of them.. Maybe it just takes time :)

One thing that really, really helped me out was researching my competition. Every keyword I want to do I check google first to see who's ranking for that term. You'll get a good idea of what will rank and what won't rank by doing that. You can use similarweb.com to check other websites traffic to get an idea of what's possible. I think you have an excellent niche that has a lot of potential.

Next, I would check out all websites that sell dog toys and stuff like that - you'll get a lot of ideas for individual reviews and "best of posts" that way. For example, http://www.petsmart.com/dog/#page_name=global&link_section=menu&link_name=dog would be a good one.

Here's a few must read articles from very well known internet marketers that will help you rank better:

This one is about on page seo (how to set up your posts): http://backlinko.com/on-page-seo

Here's the article that taught me about focusing on "2017" keywords: http://www.viperchill.com/google-traffic-2016/

Here's a website that author of the previous article made to advance that idea: https://gaps.com/google-affiliate/

Also, here's a member at Wealthy Affiliate making around $9,000 a month in just 18 months following the system taught here:
He does exactly what's taught here - focuses on individual reviews and "how to" articles

My advice is to stick with it and return to the articles I showed you and the the training when you get frustrated. Write individual reviews, best of lists and how to articles and you'll be fine.

You'll see some good results at the 3 to 6 month mark. My first month I made $1. Second month $20. 3rd month $60. 4th month $120. 5th month $1350 and 6th month (this one) I'll be over $2,000. So it kind of just happens.

It takes a lot of content - I've probably written 70 posts in the last 6 month. It's worth it though. I believe in the next 6 to 9 month I'll be around 5k a month.

If you need more help, let me know!

wow! Thank you so much for this detailed reply! It's a lot of info. I haven't gotten around to read all your links yet but I have them all opened in new tabs and am planning to thoroughly and slowly digest them!

I think I'm headed the right direction overall but my website just needs more work and there's certainly a lot more for me to learn!

Thank you again! You posts and replies have been SUPER helpful!!
