Restart In 5. 4. 3

So, having been off for a while and everything had wilted and withered while I was off; I took the decision to start again. New idea, new enthusiasm, new outlook - all 'fresh-out-of-the-box'. I decided my 1st port of call would be the Friday webinars held by Jay (@magistudios) and see what he had been teaching us.

Restart In 5...

To my joy, I found he'd done a Live Case Study in January 2020 about setting up a brand new Authority website from scratch. Exactly what I was looking for! So, I sat down and spent 6 hours watching presentations and Q & A sessions.

Restart In 4...

My initial takeaway was in the very 1st presentation where Jay talked about a certain pyschological theory called Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (either search for it or, better yet, watch Jay's webinar/s (links at end of post)). In his webinar he stated that the closer we can get our niche to the most basic of human needs then the more traffic that site should get; the more traffic it gets, the higher the chance of income, optins, revisits etc.

Cool, so... what are these 'most basic of human needs' then?

Restart In 3...

Bluntly speaking, these are what are called 'physiological needs' and, if we don't have them, then, well, we're not going to last very long; literally.

They are, in no particular order:

  • Air
  • Water
  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Clothing
  • Sleep
  • Procreation

The trick is to find a niche within those 7 areas that I could turn into a thriving website.

Restart In 2...

So, I took each 'need' in turn and gave it some darned good thinkin' time.

Air: I thought this particular need could get too medical too quickly. Also I don't suffer any kind of breathing difficulty, such as asthma, so I couldn't really relate to my audience (I wouldn't 'speak their language') - so, no to Air

Food: How could I stand out in what I think is a very crowded space on the net? There are sites for every aspect of food out there - from prepping to presentation so, what could I do that would be 'basic' enough yet interesting enough that it would gain momentum? Needs further thought and research

Shelter: What a massive slice of cyberspace this is! From tents to RVs, tenement blocks to Bel Air mansions - not to mention all the financial sides - mortgage, remortgage, foreclosure, rent etc. Could home decor be 'basic' enough? Hmm.. one for the research pile

Clothing: I discounted this niche because I thought it would end up being more of a brochure than a website that people would want as a 'resource' and revisit often. I kept thinking 'ecommerce' and, frankly, that put me off.

Sleep: This could be a authority site - there are lots of sub-niches from mattress choice to herbal supplements. I do suffer from bad night's sleep often enough. This definitely goes to the top of the research pile.

Procreation: No - just not interested. My bloodline stops with me - LOL

Water: Now this area really perked my interest. I had watched a video from a marketer called Miles Becker (I think) who stated that he has 3 different water filter systems in his house - just so he can have a glass of water that's pleasant to drink! Also, he said that the people of Flint, Michigan still have problems with their drinking water 5 years down the line.

Restart In 1...

So, I've done a deeper research into domestic water filtration - OMG is it big! I never knew this was such a 'thing'. This is going to be my 'area', my slice of the internet pie.

My next post will be my actual launch - so be ready for 'Take-Off'!

great post!
and just for the curiosity of many, I like to put an extra on Water:

Do you know why Cocacola tastes better and best at Mc Donalds?
well because firstly they get their Cocacola (mix) delivered into aluminum containers so it will stay as original and not losing flavor but, secondly they have state of the art refrigerator so the Cocacola it's consumed at best!
but mostly they have the best in the world water filtration system!

The some it's when you drink a coffee the purity of the water is the full flavor of the products and I know this by being the son of family-owned Caffetteria and already since the late 70s we had installed the osmosis system filtration

so let's go for Water Niche!

have a good easter

That is something about McDonald's and Coca Cola I didn't know Pietro. However, it doesn't explain why their coffee is so awful!

Thank you for the vote for 'Water' - yes, I think it should be a good one

ahaha ah! that one that they sell is not coffee!
but reconstitute coffee mix etch...! is not an espresso!:0)

LOL, you're right it is certainly NOT coffee!! I'd love a proper ristretto or a duplo at the end not some sort of boiled dishwater

yes!
double espresso sounds good!'
it helps me to awaken and turbo kick start in the morning!
:o)
I leave the dishwater to the clowns.:o).Sorry!

LOL - yes - proper coffee is worth every drop

have a good day my friend!

Cool post. Thanks for sharing.
Carol

Thanks Carol, much appreciated

Great post, Dom! I like the idea of finding and starting on a new niche this way. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you James, much appreciated

Great work Dom and congrats on the "restart." I have learned the restart lesson the hard way.....it's harder to restart than to just never stop in the first place lol! I look forward to seeing your results in this new niche.

Here's to our success!

Ric

Thanks Ric - yes, I agree - not stopping would have been much easier than this restart - but, if I can get off on the right foot this time.. well, who knows?
Thanks for your comment though - means a lot
