Hello there, where and when ever you may be and welcome to the 2nd in the series of 5 Thousand Dollars A Month - For Real!

Today's topic is keyword research for my Astronomy site as I discovered it in my last post

This has to be THE most important part of creating a website for an online business - get this wrong and the site will NOT be as good as it could be.

Let's go!

I'm going to use 8 tools to produce my keyword list - that might seem to be a bit of an overkill but I want to produce the longest list of potential words and phrases at the beginning so I have something to whittle down later in the process. So, my tools of choice are:

  • Google's own Autofill Suggestions - where you type in your keyword and Google adds extra words where it tries to complete your typing for you
  • Google's 'Searches Related...' - this is the list found at the bottom of the search engine results.
  • Bing's Autofill
  • Bing's Searches Related (if they have it)
  • Duckduckgo's Autofill - This is a much smaller database than either Google or Bing but their autofill suggestions kick a$$
  • Jaaxy
  • Alsoasked
  • Answerthepublic

But first, I need to discover my 'seed' keywords - these are 1-2 word key words that I'll type into the search engines as roots to find longer keywords - these may also end up as my Categories in my website.

So, my seed words could be: Astronomy, Star Gazing/stargazing, Telescopes, Binoculars, Sky-watching, Astrophotography, Solar System, Stars, Planets, Galaxies.

Yes, let's run with those, to begin with.

Now, I'm going to open a spreadsheet and do my workings in that and I'll make that spreadsheet available as a Google Doc once I'm done.

I agree Phil - there are no end of words I could be using - I think this keyword spreadsheet will be a 'live document' for many months to come.

could i suggest a seperate sheet for each category
list ideas for posts - keyword possibilities and who to beat

You've read my mind Phil !

OK so go big, and all the best.

Or go home! Thank you Elodie
