Stick with the plans you have made!

I know I am relatively young and haven't experienced too much in this life yet. However, over the past couple of years there have been a couple of things I have learned regarding planning and sticking with your plans. This might get a little deep...so bear with me!

Over the past couple of years I have been in some very low places as a result of a devastating break up, getting involved in detrimental activities (in my view as Christian I got wrapped up in a lot of sin), and just not really knowing where I was supposed to go in life.

Fast-forward to last May and I ended up in South Africa for two weeks While I was there God blessed me by crossing my path with the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I knew basically immediately that this was the girl I wanted to marry. Unfortunately I had to come back to the United States. I told myself that I need to straighten myself out so I can pursue this woman (I know I know...gushy love story part).

Anyways, six months ago I made a plan. My plan was that in mid-June 2014 I would move to Cape Town, South Africa to be closer to her (Don't worry...we're both on the same page...I'm not just going there hoping to win her over...I have already done this...wink wink). I planned an intricate timeline including specific days when I would move home to save money, when I would buy a plane ticket, etc. I created detailed budget with detailed financial goals I needed to reach before I could comfortably make the transition. Before I made this plan I also consulted with many people older than me and spent a lot of time in prayer. I said that if I plan diligently and this all goes according to plan than I know I am doing the right thing.

So far, everything has been going according to plan! I found a job teaching English online so I can do that from anywhere and make US Dollars. I purchased my ONE-WAY plane ticket last week and now she is working on finding me an apartment with a good internet connection in Cape Town! On June 16th I will land on South African soil!

To me this shows that if you plan wisely and diligently, seek guidance from elders and those with more experience than yourself, and stick with the plan and work towards set goals then they will happen if they are truly what you are supposed to do! This brings me to my second point...the real reason I wrote this post.

I have set a plan to publish three posts a week. One on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I know that since I have made this plan with the knowledge I have gained here at WA than I must stick with it...however, it is Friday and I have yet to write a post to publish on my site. So, it looks like I am going to have a late night!

I know it is not real common to talk about Faith on WA but it is a critical aspect of my life and my personal story and I believe a big reason why I am here at WA. (Sorry for the super long post.

TL:DR I made a plan - stuck with it - it is working out - you should do the same

TL:DR (Young folk speak for "Too Long, Didn't Read")

In case you're wondering...here is my favorite picture of her :D

Glad it's working out for you Dustin! I agree with your points about making a plan and working to it. And I agree with seeking Divine guidance and help! keep that up!

Thank man! :)

I'm actually making my move IN TWO DAYS! It's kind of crazy it is actually happening!!

Great story DustinG I was born in Cape Town! but I now reside in Queensland Australia.Great story and I wish you all the best with your new life in Cape Town.

Thank you! I'm really excited. My girlfriend just got the keys to my flat a couple days ago and I will be there in less than two weeks.

Do you have any suggestions on good places to go or hang out? I'm kind of a foodie so if you've got any good secret restaurants let me know!

Getting direction from the one who created makes sense. As the scripture says Jehovah God does not see the way man sees. I wish you the best.

Most definitely! :)

You have planned well, Enjoy Cape Town and your new life.

Thank you! :)

Enjoyed your long post - I have no doubt you will enjoy Cape Town - I love it!

Thank you! I'm sure I will too :)

My girlfriend just got the keys to my apartment yesterday! It's becoming real!!!

I totally agree with you, Dustin. Making a plan and sticking with it is a no-fail recipe for success. Don't forget though, to be flexible when you have to- you sometimes plan for a right turn when God plans for a left!
All the best to you both for a bright beautiful future.

Definitely! Plans are good as long as they align with God's footsteps...if not then you'll soon figure it out :) haha

Fantastic blog. Mishing you every success. :)
