Family history or the legacy your ancesters leave you is very important. It's not about whether you're decended from royalty or someone whose famous. It more about the kind of family you come from.

Are they truly there for you when you need them?

What kind of values have they taught you?

What are their religious beliefs?

What career path have they taken?

The are valid questions to ask because children often follow their parents in the same career path, religious beliefs, and live by the values they learned from their parents.

By values I'm referring to the ones we live our life by.. Values that you want to pass along to your children:

  1. Appreciation. Taking a brief moment to say, “thank you,” or acknowledging the exceptional work someone has performed whether they're a waiter in a restarant or the valet that opens your door.
  2. Belief in Others. This can be nothing more than a word of encouragement to someone you notice seems dwn or unhappy.
  3. Caring. Caring for others, or lending a helping hand to someone in need.
  4. Commitment. Commitment shows loyalty and it can show bravery and tenacityto keep working on your goals. A commitment is a promise made and an expectation we have created. Honoring our commitments can make the difference between achieving what’s most important to us or feeling disappointed and defeated.
  5. Compassion. We are all part of this thing called the human condition. We need to care for one another.
  6. Cooperation. Even the most complex tasks and assignments can be made simpler when we focus on the solutions – together. Finding a way to work together as a team.
  7. Courtesy. The next time you are approaching a door and someone is ten steps or so behind you, wait just one second longer before walking through. Instead hold the door for that one second. This is a lost art on today's society.
  8. Dedication. No matter how the circumstances may change, unless you are in a physically or emotionally abusive situation, stay the course and never give up. I would rather be called a failure than a loser.
  9. Failures are folks who have just not found success – but will. So, as long as you keep trying you're not a failure.
  10. Devotion. Some days are just naturally better than others. We are not guaranteed smoothe sailing in a relationship but by staying the course eventually problems can be solved.

I love this! Number 9 really resonated with me, especially within this type of "work". Often times we may think of ourselves as failures due to the lack of income your site may not be bringing in, such as mine, but with number 8, staying dedicated it will payoff at some point.

Thank you so much for sharing this, and yes my husband and I have taught our 4 children these values. Let's hope the generations coming up do the same.

Best wishes,

Kris
