The Importance of Work
The reason that hard work beats talent, is because when you put effort into reaching a goal it means more to you, then just having a natural talent. You can have a natural talent for something, but with out putting in the effort to succeed, more times than not you will fail.
For instance, a football team practices all week before the game, no matter how talented the players are, because without practice the team doesn't play as a team. In baseball, even though it is a team sport, without practice of swinging the bat against the ball and learning where your sweet spot is, the player loses the mental image over time. Practice makes perfect-- it takes three strikes to be out, but hitting the ball once every three times is the norm. Many times even with practice, a player doesn't hit the ball every third time; but without practice a player can extend that number to 100 or 200 swings before they hit the ball.
The same equation works in any industry. Success takes planning and effort over time for a long-term success. Having a strategy for success, gives you the advantage of knowing what to do next along the road in order to succeed, whereas, with out a plan you are winging it along the way and you may not know what needs to be done to reach the final goal.
We are a product of the home we come from, when you see a parent putting forth a lot of effort, then you learn the importance of putting in the effort to reach your goal. But, if you see a parent sitting around with out putting forth an effort and just getting things along the way, then you may think things come easy. Also you may not realize the work they have put in when you are not around to reach that goal, and that will also give you a false impression that things should always come easy to you.
