In the past, women more than anyone are not encouraged to start a business or to become entrepreneurs. That is changing as more women start and build successful companies that grow into corporations.

Society is beginning to change their attitudes about women, but they still have a long way to accept women as leaders. For more women to become totally accepted as leaders they need to learn to show authority.

Ways to exude confidence and appear more authoritative at work:

1. Get clear on your own authority and learn to believe in yourself
   
2. Get aligned with your boss behind the scenes so he can be your mentor
   
3. Know what to say when you don't know the answer to the question
   
4. Don't get angry or upset when things don't go the way you expect them to. Learn to take unexpected events in stride.
   
5. Stop worrying about being liked by your emploees, because not everyone because you're always going to rub someone the wrong way.
   
6. Pay attention to your tone of voice because it can either draw people to you or turn them off.
