The term karma comes from Hinduism and is the principle of retributive justice determining a person's state of life and effect of his past deeds. What that means is that what ever happens to you you bring upon yourself by your actions.

Hinduism is an ancient religion practiced by many people And originated from India. This is a country where they have a cast system--- that means there are four levels in which you can fall and can be based on the kind of work you perform in ancient India.

For our purposes karma means cause and effect--- that what you give out is what you get back. Remember this saying--- people will treat you how you treat them or you get back what you give out.
