Just looking at my questions and the is a little flame symbol by 1 of my questions. What did I do?

I think a flame normally represents a new post you've made here or if the post is receiving plenty of interaction from members, making it a "hot topic."

It's nothing to worry about though :)

Neil

Whew! Thanks! That's really cool that the interaction is so hot!
;)

No problem! LOL :p

I looked at your question and I do see the "flame" though I am not certain what it means. I don't see that you've done anything wrong - all looks ok.

I'm going to check out my questions and see if I have any flames - lol

ROCK ON!
E

Thanks E!

You're welcome - I have no flames but I do have some little blue quote boxes ... don't know what they mean either.

Should I do key work research or just something catchy when I select my domain name? Does it matter? Is the power mostly in the content and link juice?

You can do either!

However, if you do choose a keyword for your domain name, eventually it will make page 1 of the search engines when it gains 100% trust, driving extra traffic to your site, so it's worth doing!

Neil

Ok. Once I cut my teeth ( no pun I tended) on all of this then that is what I will do. Thanks!

Hi I found this: I would pick a short domain name so people can remember it.. But its the content on your site that matters..

hope this helped..

Good info! Thank you so much!

Ok thanks!

The thing about a keyword domain name, is the fact that if you. actually use a real keyword phrase for your domain name, those keywords represent a specific amount of people looking for that topic each month. Of course, there are plenty of Google first page websites with custom non keyword domains but many place the keywords within the site itself. It definately pays to attempt to find a grammatically correct phrase that you can put a "lean" on as it will help get your site indexed on the first page of the search engines.

Thank you, WSanders!

I purchased my name as a domain. Years ago and did nothing g with it. I used to do health and weight loss semi as and thought I would sell my product and system but never did.

If you bought your name as a domain that's a good thing. Your name is your "brand" I would want to brand myself so people get to know me and then they come to my website because they recognize my name. Plus I would be the "go to person" for information.

For example professional athletes they brand themselves with sneakers ect..

hope this helps..

Great advice. Will this help or hurt in the search engines?

No. Your content and keywords will dictate how your site is ranked. Plus if your content is engaging and informative it will get shared through likes and tweets thus giving you traffic to your site and ranking you in the search engines..

hope this helped..

Ohhh! Got it. Thanks. I was laboring over the domain name too much and over analyzing it. Thank you, bmark!

I think it depends on what you are marketing.

Are you marketing something your passionate about where all your personality comes out and you live it?
Will your readers be following you and your voice?

Or

Are you marketing a niche that you like, use, and just want to make a profit from?

Only my top passions. Things that I eng age in on a regular basis AND things from which I wish to peofit, but not just anything.

Using your name as a domain is good for branding. Such as Walmart, ebay, target, see what I mean? But if its for making money from articles you write, its more about keywords.

The best way is to use keywords in your domain name. Using your own name is ok, if your site title has keywords? But I would sit back and compare the replies you get here before deciding. I am fairly new here and still learning. Best of luck

Thank you, I will do that.

you should have your name domain but should not be your startup business site. You want to be able to show up in search engines and your Name is not a keyword that will probably be something people are searching for in your niche. When you have time you could use your site as a journal of what yo'ur doing.

Got it! Thank you!
