T is for Trees
So much is learned from something as simple as a tree. For me, enjoying their beauty is so calming and reassuring. Growing up on the east coast, I was surrounded by the strength and beauty of oak and elm trees. Now that I live in the gorgeous desert of the southwest, the variety is endless. These are growing right in my own neighborhood!
Being that trees are living things, I think of them in human terms. I can look at them and see all the qualities and splendor of the human spirit. No matter what the conditions, they endure. Trees, in their nature state, give so much to us...shelter from the rain….shade from the sun….food from their fruits. There is determination and purpose to their existence. (The destruction of trees also provide so much raw materials for consumer goods but that topic is for another blog)
Trees are so durable, living through all kinds of conditions. They survive in weather from winter snowstorms to droughts. They grow and thrive in high or low altitudes. No matter the condition, each year the leaves return and the fruit grows.
Sequoia National Park in northern California is home to General Sherman, said to be the biggest tree in the world. He stands at 274.9 feet tall with a girth at ground level of 102.6 feet. The General is at least 2,000 years old and possibly as old as 4,000 years. Several years ago, I visited General Sherman. One feels quite small and insignificant surrounded by these magnificent trees.
There is a synergy to trees….many parts but all contributing to the whole. The root system supports the tree by keeping it firmly grounded and nourished. Water and nutrients are delivered directly to the rest of the tree for survival. Compared to the size of the some trees, the root system is relatively small, yet it produces trees of all sizes. The trunk of the tree gives it structure and definition. It is the branches and leaves that add character to the trees. There are so many different shades and shapes. I don’t think any two trees are exactly the same.
Be confident that as members of Wealthy Affiliate, we are well supported in the development of our websites. The owners and the training are the roots and trunk that nourish us. That system is small in size, yet supports a huge organization. I last heard our membership is over 1,000,000. That structure gives us all the tools needed to flourish in this online world.
One of my new favorite activities is to visit the classrooms. All the discussions lead to another layer of understanding. Be sure to check out all the different “branches” that are available.
All this information and training supports us in developing our area of interest in any way we want. Just like the branches and leaves of the tree, we grow in different directions with different purposes but we have a sturdy foundation.
Who will be the next General Sherman? Who will build a website that will grow, rank, and survive? With everything we learn at Wealthy Affiliate, maybe it will be YOU!

Wealthy Affiliate can truly be likened to a tree.
So many branches and deep, very deep roots!
Thanks Debbie.
Thanx for the beautifully well-written post Debbie, and the great analogies! I've been known to hug a tree or 2 in my day, so I'll think of that while moving forward here at WA

Hi Debbie. What a wonderful way to remind us about the work we need to do to grow. There is something magical about trees as there is about expanding he mind
Absolutely....thanks for your comment!
