Learning to Change

I started going to the YWCA gym in downtown Pittsburgh, PA sometime around 1960. Weight rooms were different then. There were only free weights and a few pieces of specialized equipment for very specific exercises like dead lifts. Over the years, equipment has developed focusing on range of motion, safety and specific muscle work. Free weights can now be replaced by stack weights manipulated by adjustable pulley systems.

Every few years a new type of workout becomes popular. The simple 3 set, 8-10 repetition routine has been replaced by high/low, drop, and extinction workouts. Linked muscle group workout days have been replaced by full body circuit workouts.

I've changed a great deal, also. Arthritis in my neck and shoulders have limited my ability to do bilateral excercises. So, I hired a trainer to help me learn how to work out differently. I have learned to use less weight in a very controlled way for each muscle. I am finding that by following the trainer's instructions, my workout is challenging but pain free. Its taken me awhile to set aside years of habits that I had developed.

Today, I was thinking about WA and my online business as I drove home from the gym. Almost everything I knew about business, customer service, inventory, marketing, security, business traffic and business relationships had to change.

I wasn't doing anything wrong in the gym. But, what I had been doing was not meeting my needs now. I needed help to learn, adjust and change. My past retail business experience was not wrong, but there was no way that experience could help me succeed now. My trainer helped me in the gym. WA has helped me change from stimulating foot traffic to marketing around the world. The training, in the gym and at WA, has been tough at times, but the changes have certainly helped me keep on fishin.'

Running water never goes stale be water my friend be water, Bruce Lee.
Yes and wa has taught us how to make money in different ways and that in itself has been well worth the annual fee .
In my case it amounts to an increase of approx. $15,000.00 or more annually for doing nothing but checking my bank account on my smart phone monthly, without so far not being affected by the carona virius.
Whereas the stock market is tumbling and airlines are set to lose 113 billion dollars if the virus continues.
Wa however should be virus free carona that is.
Yes exercising smarter is always a good thing.
I prefer isometric exercises as they do not tear your muscles like free weights do.
Your arthritis might be helped with turmeric, it has helped me a great deal with my rheumatoid arthritis to the point that my wedding ring I had enlarged a few years ago is now so loose that it almost falls off my finger and I have little to no pain.
Also boswellia and salmon oil are very good for inflammation.
You have to eat foods that will stop inflammation .
Have a great day😎👌 another good post that gets one thinking!

Thanks for the advice. I will check out the turmeric and maybe give it a try. It was nice of you to take the time to read and respond.

It works for me all the best

Nothing in this life stands still, Jim. Change is continual and we must change with it. I believe I could write a book on this subject but I'm not going to do that! I'm currently keeping my focus on the present with the belief that more mental activity will help increase success with my websites and with WA.

We have to adjust to change whether we want to or not. I like it when I set the tone, though. Thanks for reading and writing a response.

My pleasure, Jim. Thank you.

Great point Jim we cannot stay stagnant, it's like standing still in traffic, Bam you end up on your back getting run over wondering what happened, it's like they say there's those who watch things happen, those who make things happen and those who wonder what happened, pick one of the three.

Joe

Its not always possible, but I sure like to be the one who makes change happen if I can be. Thanks for reading the post.

Great, Jim--we have to change with the times!

Jeff

Yeah.. I just wish the times would slow down. Thanks for reading and responding, Jeff.

You're welcome, Jim!

We need to adapt to grow.

True. I guess growth never stops while we are inhaling and exhaling. Thanks for taking the time to read my article.
