Escape to WA

Part of why I joined WA was for the challenge. Although I have used computers since the early 80's, I had no experience with developing a website or anything that goes along with that. WA provided a platform for learning to do something completely new.

I also joined WA to escape. Despite world-wide access, computer time is isolating and totally controllable. I can pick and choose the information with which I want to interact. The reviews I read about WA indicated that the community was helpful and supportive. I thought I would like that.

I live in a beautiful California city with a gang problem. There is some kind of violence reported in the local news daily. Our national and international news is certainly not better. The horror of Manchester, so far away, but so close, on my devices, is almost more than I can think about. I try to be a positive force in the world around me, but, to do that, I need to spend time in a positive place. So, I help out at a service club, spend time with a faith community, do part time work at a social work agency and interact here at WA. Although I try to help in all those places, I am also escaping to be with positive people.

Through trainings, blog posts, lessons and the questions of others, I am learning a great deal at WA. But I am also, for the time I am signed on, focusing on the ideas and experience of a positive community. I miss that when I am away. It sounds trite, but platforms like WA do provide a haven for many. As you freely offer your expertise and experience here at WA, please offer your thoughts and prayers for the world.
