Encourage don't Discourage
I honestly have never been so surprised in my life. You know how the unexpected grabs your mind for a few seconds? The other day this happened to me. I was dumbfounded for a long time.
My wife found a 4 tumbler padlock in a drawer. Of coure, there was no combination. She wanted to use the lock so she said she would figure out the combination. I laughed pointing out there are 10,000 possible combinations for a 4 digit sequence. Her response to my laughter was that she would watch a You Tube video. She did... a You Tube video on safe cracking. I laughed again and mentioned that I could stop my online business if she got really good at beating locks.
Undaunted, she asked me to pull on the latch as she manipulated the numbers. I said I would help, but told her it was a waste of time. It would be easier to drive to the store and buy another lock. Her response was that she could feel a tiny bump when she turned the tumbler. She annoounced that she would stop at each little bump. She spun each tumbler for about 5 minutes stopping when she was pretty sure about the bump. To my astonishment, she opened the lock.
I have never been so surprised. My mouth opened. I made some kind of noise and just stared at her and the lock. She had learned about the little bumps from the video and had the patience to feel for them as she turned the tumblers.
We can use the padlock again. But the important thing learned is that its better to encourage than to try to discourage. I would never have believed my wife could open that lock so I made fun of her and tried to get her to not waste her time. She didn't say a word when the lock released. She just held it up.
For safe cracking, WA or lots of things in life, it is best to encourage someone as they try so we can help them keep on fishin'.

Terrific. Funnily enough I had a similar problem recently with a padlock. The numbers had somehow slipped. Eventually after many tries I opened it & could reset it! But it took me longer than you guys!
As with WA. Its taking time. But Im going to succeed as so many others will.
He who says it cant be done, dont stop the person doing it!

That was a good one! One smart mama! Lol 😂 Yea always better to encourage than discourage! I also wanted to learn how to change my mailbox lock One day and to my surprise I found it on Youtube! You tube has a lot of answers if you seek them! As determined as I was my daughter wanted to join in and wanted to help me. We opened it and changed with a screwdriver exactly what the youtuber said and it opened! I gave my daughter all the glory coz I want her to help me again next time I need help! Lol 😂

Your wife showed better initiative than me! I used to open briefcases by dialing in the numbers (of course these were three wheelers). I've also opened the 4 wheel key storage bogs--only takes me a couple of beers to do that, Jim! 😜😜🍺🍺
