Disappearing Comments

Hey, Everyone. I recently noticed that some of my comments are disappearing. I hit the "approve and reply" tab after responsding to a comment submitted on one of my website posts and it just disappears. It has taken me 3 trys for the approval notice to come up. The same thing is happening with my WA blog comments. Quite a few times, I have noticed after leaving a comment that it does not show up if I go back to the post to check. I was wondering if it might be due to traffic at the time of commenting. Has anyone else experienced this? I would like to figure it out so I can "Keep on Fishin'."

Have you tried clearing your browser cache Jim?

Also, when I check my posts here I don't see the updated comments until I turn my computer off and turn it back on. It appears that the dumb system remembers old stuff and fails to make the updates.

This may or may not be the reason for what you are seeing but I thought I'd throw this out.

Cheers.

Edwin

I will try emptying my cache. I neglect to do that sometimes. Thanks.

I have noticed the same thing on occasion when commenting on a blog post or two in the community here Jim!

I am certain that I have added the comment, but if I look back it doesn't appear to..... well appear!

Maybe a bug.... or something we are doing wrong!

At the end of the day though, does it really matter in the grander things in life??

Great point. I always look at it as if I have just wasted the minutes. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

I'm not a huge fan of wasting time either Jim... that's why I prefer to just not think too much about it and move on to the next task for the day!

Have a great weekend my friend!

Good suggestion.

Over the years, I have noticed that if I write a long comment, or get distracted and come back to submit a reply to comments, it just won't send, and I get a red bar below the comment.

When that happens, I copy the content of the comment, and paste it into notepad. then I can refresh the page, and the comment will disappear.

But, since I copied the comment, I can open a new reply and paste it right back in. Then, when I send the reply it works ok.
I don't know if that is the same thing or not, but one fix I have learned over the years that saves a lot of work!

So, if I hit reply to a comment, and it doesn't go on the first try, I always copy it, and save it before I lose it.

I will try that. Thanks.

That's a prudent idea, Carl!

You are welcome. Glad to be able to help.

Thanks Jeff! I rewrote a lot of lost comments and finally wised up!

I can certainly understand how you came up with the idea then, my friend!

Occasionally it happens to me, Jim, but it is just par for the course in the WA blog posts! I haven't had any true comments on my website posts yet, my friend!

Jeff

You might be right. I was thinking about the number of people using. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Who knows why it happens. I've had some people delete their own comments at one time or another.

I have done thst.

I accidentally did one of mind hiting delete instead of edit.

I believe it happens to me sometimes, but thought I must have forgotten to save comments. I have been so busy I haven't pursued the reason. will follow to see if you find out anything.

It might just be user volume at the time. I don't know if that is possible on this protocol. Thanks for taking the time to read this and comment.
