Comments Rejected. I Don't Know Why.
For a long time, I stopped writing comments on website articles because often the comments were being rejected and I couldn't figure out why. I spend quite of bit of time reading each article and writing the comment. I understand that some may be rejected, but I would like to know why.
This has started to happen again. Recently, I thought I offered a good comment on a website that helped me make a program decision. I wrote and rewrote the comment because I wanted to relate it to what I was doing. I even thanked the author. I copied the reason my comment was rejected and pasted it below.
"Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment.Bad comment"
I think I might have written a bad comment. Seriously, I understand someone not wanting to approve a comment (I guess), but I really would like to know why so that I can offer better comments in the future. Maybe it's time to stop commenting.

Sorry to hear that, Jim. If I can tell that someone actually read and are commenting based on the content, I will approve. I have had to disapprove many times because it's obvious they didn't even read the article. I am sure you're a great commenter since you take the time to read and make a thoughtful comment.

Even a negative comment can be helpful. I agree if I think the person has read the article and disagrees that's fine. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Jim,
Please don't give up on the comments as this is not a representation of the majority of those on this platform. :-)
I can understand if any member is not happy with a comment but they must have the decency to say why and give you a polite feedback.
A reason could be because you have misunderstood the criteria or the comment does not make sense etc etc. We all make mistakes and I'm sure this particular member has too!
It's a shame there are some people not willing to be helpful when you go out your way to help them.
Don't let this get to you because as I say there are so many other nice member of the WAmily who do appreciate your comments.
Hope this helps you feel better. :-)
All the very best!

You make a good point. And, ultimately, The whole rejected comment thing doesn't really make any difference. It's just the amount of time seems to be wasted when something like this happens. Thanks for your positivity and for your comment.
You are very welcome. You just have to feel good about the fact you tried to help someone. It's their loss if they don't appreciate it. If they don't listen to what you have to say, then you just watch them fail in what they are looking to achieve. Some people never learn.
Sorry to hear that happened to you! That's infuriating especially since they didn't give you a valid reason on why it was rejected.
I remember some time back, I had made a comment on a person's article and he rejected it. When he gave the reason why, I was shocked and angry. The person's article had to do with a product review of a make money program. In my comment I said that it was a well written review and that I liked certain aspects of that product and so I asked if there was a monthly cost for it. He rejected my comment saying that it does not matter the cost, that it is an absolutely great product and everyone should be willing to join and pay the price of it no matter how low or high it is.
I vowed never to make any kind of comments on that person's articles ever again and I shortly gave up using Site Comments after that.
Wow. That is strange. Asking a question enhances the value of the article. I gave up commenting for quite a while and a started again. I guess it's just the meanest spiritedness of the comment that bothered me. Thanks for your commentary.
Wow.I read this like I wrote it. Very irritating. To think that someone from here could stoop so low and be so rude. If it's any consolation I love your comments. They are true to who you are. So I'm sorry for this experience Jim. But we both know you are better then them. Many blessings to you. Dennis

Bummer. This person is wasting your time.
Sort of ancillary to the topic, have you noticed if comments actually help rankings?
I know people will automatically say "yes", but I see so much back and forth on the topic on the interwebs.
Curious if anyone has a personal case study on the topic.
Post engaging shows google it is getting attention and may help however it is not important to have comments. Comments has to be relevant and serve a purpose to the topic and the blog.
No case study however.
You're right. It's the back and forth the exchange that's created by learning from a rejected comment that's important.
