Comments Rejected

I offer a lot of comments on post and pages because I think there is something to learn from each one. As well, I get a great deal of satisfaction from the feeling of helping out. I spend a lot time writing each comment because I want them all to be well thought out to somehow move the content of the article forward.

Lately, I have had quite a few comments rejected. One very nice person explained that a comment was good, but not quite what was wanted. As well, I commented on a very beautiful article that had a particular religious point of view with a very benign, general statement that the article would have meaning for people of different faiths. The comment was rejected because the viewpoint of another faith wasn't of interest. I could go on, but I think I have made my point. Comments are an interaction with the content of an article. I expect that thoughtful comments which follow WA guidelines and respond as the author has requested with be received gratefully.

Actually, I don't mind having a comment rejected when it shows that I don't really grasp the intent of the article or have not met the author's request. But, when I put time into writing a thoughtful comment to further the information offered in the article, I somewhat resent the "not quite right" rejection rationale. I am wondering if others have found that, recently, comments are being rejected for reasons that are not quite clear. I would also like to know why others take the time to write comments. I think I might not visit the comment section of WA as often as I have been. That will give me more time to do different things on my websites as I "keep on fishin.'"

I think it is best to look at what the owner of the website is asking for before commenting. For example: If the owner is not requesting an opinion, don't give one. Simply do what is asked. They have a right to reject you if they see that your comment is not being honored as asked. They're paying for that also.
Another thing is that some website owners are too lazy to edit a comment to make it look good even though it supported the requests.
I had a website owner accused me of copying and pasting comments. That made me furious. I got even by writing an insulting comment as an outside visitor. One thing rejecting a comment but accusing me of something while trying to lecture me was out of reach.
When I do request a comment, I made sure that every commentators get a fair take, even if I had to edit the misspelled words. The saddest thing is that the same person is another W.A. member who treats another W.A. member as if we will not know who he/she is.
Thanks for the interactive post friend. All the best!

I appreciate the suggestion. I look at the reasons for a comment that the author has checked, but, when I think about it, maybe I add too much. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

That's disappointing when you obviously spent time and effort to produce the comment. Some people just don't get it and think that they can dictate comment content. Build a bridge and get over it, people, cause if you don't accept thoughtful comments when offered, none may be offered again in the future - by anyone, not just WA members!

This is true. Thanks for taking the time to stop and write.

Hi Jim,
We have all been there. I no longer bother too much about requesting site comments because they increase the bounce rate of my site and can in turn damage it.

Every now and again I do however nip offer and offer a comment or two. Like you I agree even when a comment is controversial it shouldn't be rejected on those grounds. In fact controversial comments can be quite good as they spark more comments than those that constantly agree with the content creator's point of view.

Thanks, Candy. That's a good observation.

Hey Jim I have, like you, made an effort to provide robust and what I think are constructive comments. My approval rate is 90% with 2 comments disapproved. I think in both instances there were several gaps which I pointed out with recommendations to fix. I thought I was going out of my way but sadly the recipients just didn't find my comments complimentary. C'est la vie I thought.

I still pop in the Site Comments from time to time thinking that I will use the credits earned for future reviews and comments on my sites under management.

I really like the stuff I learn through the website articles so I may just read and not comment so much anymore. Thanks for taking the time to write.

I try to do two comments a day and don’t have many rejections but when I do it’s normally because I don’t understand the article which is fair but yes I think trading and crypto should have a completely separate category as I don’t like to skip too many comments.

I don't skip articles I don't get, but when i open them and find I don't connect, I just close them. Thanks for writing.
