Part 1 - My Journey Thus Far.A Few Thoughts

Well here we are. I've been here at WA since the 20th of June as a starter and a week later I decided to "go the whole hog" and go premium. I gotta say I'm not sorry I did. The training here at WA is amazing and even though I've only been here a short time I can already see the massive potential that lies ahead. I haven't been able to join in on a live webinar yet due to the time distance being Down Under but also because of my work (the hours have clashed). But I'm sure there will be other opportunities coming up!

I'm currently on lesson 10 of the first stage of training. I watched the video today of being an ambassador for WA and it makes great sense to pay things forward. I'm a huge fan of that. Why? Well, unless you have self-taught yourself every single thing in your life you owe a certain percentage of what you know back to others who are coming after you. And if not for others who have come before you...you would not be where you are today!

I've come up with a list of successful people's habits (after much researching plus my own life experience) and this list is by no means exhaustive. This may help motivate and get you into a different mindset, not the 9-5 grinding away for years type mindset but rather the entrepreneurial aim-for-the sky type mindset which to me is far more exciting. Getting back to the list, I have found that the most successful people in this world are (usually) those who:

  • Pay things forward without fear nor favour
  • Help someone else out even if not asked
  • Network and attend social events regularly (very powerful)
  • Not be afraid to speak up when necessary
  • Take exception to others or other companies doing the wrong thing
  • Treat other's the way they want to be treated
  • Be a good listener - (a big one for me)
  • Approach life itself as an ongoing learning process
  • Learn to read, speak and write well (top achievers learn this even if they have come from a poor, dysfunctional background with a bad, patchy education)
  • Often have an appreciation for arts, knowledge, music and travel (you learn far more from traveling and meeting people than in ANY stuffy classroom)
  • Be willing to admit their mistakes and shortcomings (and we all have them, including me)
  • Self- motivated and self-reliant, (think about it. No one can make things happen for you, only you can do that)
  • Sensible with their money - i.e. living at or below their means even when things start to work (a very key point if you want to get ahead and not stay in debt). There's no point in spending all your hard-earned revenue on some frivolous item you probably don't really need anyway, (this does take will power)
  • They don't see failures as a failure - rather, they see it as a "learning process". Ask yourself what did I learn from that venture? How could I have done it differently?
  • They learn not to take criticism personally - (as long as it's not disrespectful). We all have traits and habits that we can improve on
  • Work like a dog when necessary - even it means after hours work and pushing yourself, but know your limits at the same time
  • They don't overload themselves with unnecessary data (they learn what they need to learn at THAT point in time and that's it, as I've mentioned in a previous post)
  • They rarely argue problems; rather they usually argue solutions to that problem(s)
  • They also learn to "switch off" and "be in the moment" when appropriate
  • Biggest thing of all - they don't quit. That is not an option if you want to really get somewhere in life

Now there are and have been those (particularly in the past) who have attained great wealth by being absolutely obnoxious and treating people like numbers (or worse). But you know what? They are the slim minority and getting slimmer by the day. Society is becoming less and less tolerant of that sort of bad old-school behavior and with good reason. And then there are those who scam others out of their money. Personally, I don't know how they sleep at night, but again the bad karma will be on them at the end of the day.

Hopefully, that's given you some motivation to get out there and strive for something better, something you can take pride in and say "yep, I built that business from scratch."

Part 2 coming in a moment after lunch...where I talk about what I've achieved thus far, my goals, website, the future etc, etc ...(rubbing my hands together!!) See you shortly. Matt
