If you want to remove the whole footer at the bottom of your page like I did on my site

Thanks! worked perfectly.

thanks bo, i will do lots of careful research before i make any alterations.

For security reasons i want to remove my "powered by wordpress footer", so that it does not show for hackers. if i can get rid of my footer i will follow your guide and copy the code before i do any adjustments.

Not always but in most cases you can edit the footer.php file thru appearance editor... you need to have a basic understanding of html

Be careful though.. in some themes removing all that code could break the site. Not for Twenty thirteen that I know of.. but occcasionally theme builders require certain elements they put in the footer to work. removing them could render your site completely unusable until you add it back tor change the theme template

you are right, what i like doing is saving the code in notepad and updating the page. if it doesnt work then i put it back.
