Keyword research is all about picking and winning your fights. Not literally, but when you start out with a brand new website which has no 'authority' in Googles eyes (can take many months for Google to trust your site based on quality of content, specificity to niche, and user engagement).
So the higher the number of monthly searches a keyword has the better. But it's also likely that there will be a lot of sites competing for that keyword.
Therefore the indicator used in Jaaxy is the QSR (quoted search results). This is a fast and pretty accurate indicator of the competition for that keyword ... lower obviously better.
So when starting out you're advised to target the very low QSR keywords more than the medium level ones.
Kyle is really great on the subject, watch all of his video's read all his articles.
Keyword research is more of an art than a science but once you get a feel for what level you're content can compete at (remembering it'll get better with practice) you'll be able to win more of your fights than you lose.
Meaning efficiently start building the volume of visitors you attract each month. The bad news ...the beginning is the hardest part. Building momentum ain't always easy.
Hope this helps :)
Thanks Richard. It does clear up some fog. I've found myself looking at and have narrowed it down to "email security software" (i just left the world of cybersecurity). What do you think?
After find the keyword/niche should i then do the research into that area?
