Have You Ever Tried The Socratic Blogging Method?

Is there really such a thing as the Socratic Blogging Method? Huh? Have you heard of the way Socrates teaches? Do you know how many statements a speaker or a writer can make before the average listener or reader's mind wanders away? Have you had the experience of having a toddler ask you dozens of questions? Did you get bored? Have you ever tried using rhetorical questions after an average of five declarative statements? Whether you're delivering a speech or writing a blog or post?

Is asking questions engaging? Have you ever heard of the porcupine method of answering a question with a question? Are good conversationalists question askers after they answer your question(s)? What do you think of all of this so far? Will it help with your next blog? Maybe insert a few questions on your next topic on your website? Will the questions effectively draw your reader in a little closer to your message?

How about in your family life or at the office? Will asking questions tactfully, help with the wife or the kids? Will your co-workers appreciate and feel important if you ask them questions instead of you playing a know-it-all role?

How about here at WA? Have you ever asked yourself, "What kind of community will this community be, if everyone in it, was just like me?"

Cheers? Or jeers?

Don?

thanks Don for trying to stretch my brain.

Hi Don, very interesting. Has me thinking. Irv.

How can we ever compete with this?

Great job.

I hope brilliance runs in our "family" because I want some!!!!!

SS

My WA sis Susan,

It's humbling to read your reaction. Always. You're way ahead of me when it comes to brilliance. I merely inherited our genes. What I'm most thankful for is the constant support I garner from you and our WA family each step of the way, literally and figuratively speaking. Thank you again sis.

Cheers!
Don

PS. I just followed you on Google Plus.

Thank you! I will do the same for you!

We have a good thing going here because we help each other!

If only the rest of society worked together like we do here at WA,!!!

I enjoy our new family ties

Don, I think you're on to something. I think the Socratic method may be just the thing for some blogs.

It's not for everybody but a sprinkling of a question here and there, will work wonders for some. Thank you Doc! I'll schedule a trip north of the bridge sooner than later!

Cheers!
Don

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Chukuemeka! A visit from a Top 100 guy is always a treat. Especially from a possible Lakers fan? LOL.

Cheers!

A perfect way of zeroing in on a good lesson Don!

Coming from someone of your stature, Michael, I really and truly appreciate it. You're always finding something kind to say. I'm very fortunate to be a part of your network.

Cheers!
Don

Thank you Don. Everybody here is a great developer!

Yes sir, wholeheartedly I concur. It's a joy following leaders like you, Kyle, Carson and Jay!

Cheers!

My pleasure Don!

Questions in titles help draw people in. Statements and questions just like in your blog, keeps people involved in the content, which, ultimately is good.

The engagement the questions present is key, used properly. Thank you for the feedback Mickey. Your time to shine arrived here at WA way before I joined. Better late than never as the cliche goes. I'm referring to me just now able to witness your community success, etc.

Cheers!
Don

AW, shucks!

You have a good point...maybe in some of my posts I can pull the reader in with a question or two, but hopefully not bore them to death...lol

Yep. Very good point Ms. Terry. I look forward to seeing you climb 4 ranks at least in about 6 hours!

Cheers!
Don

lol...I think I kinda sucked at working today, but I'm hoping I see a change in ranking when I wake up! :)

I eagerly await the results although lately, I have not been attached to them, i.e. outcomes. Things happen for a reason and at the right time. We shall see, Ms. Terry. I'm your CSL. Cheering Squad Leader.

Cheers!
Don

Thanks for sharing, Don.

Thank you Big Rog! You're always positive! Thank you again for stopping by!

Cheers!

No problem, Don.

Pffft - hated the Socratic method in law school. Still hate it today. Can you tell just how much I hated it? LOL I raised an autistic child so I can tell you just how many questions I get and still get with an autistic adult.

I loved my one semester of law school!

Cheers!
Don

I finished law school -- practicing law was nothing like law school. Thank goodness. I am glad u liked the method.

Thank you, Cindy. I only like it very sparingly. I 'm glad you finished law school. I'm very glad I chose not to. Winning to win is not me. I managed a law office, I've engaged on legislative multi-million dollar city level appropriations bills against lawyers and judges in a fierce 4-year battle with them so I will not pursue any more of this type of exchange with a redhead, a lawyer or for anyone for whatever purpose. I would prefer to agree to disagree and move on. I want to support you on your quest to find something, some solution for your son on his online gaming interest, to make money, etc. Thank you for letting me join your network your network Ms.Cindy. You're knocking on the Top 200 door. Congratulations in advance. I salute and respect you.

Cheers!
Don
