Affiliate Marketing is like peeling an onion.

Every time you peel back a layer another is just below it. I had no idea how many layers there were to affiliate marketing.

The first layer of affiliate marketing was SEO. I though this wasn’t too bad to learn as I thought I was going to be making money real soon.

The second layer still wasn’t bad as it was all about keywords both regular and long tailed. I learned where and how to find them along with keyword density.

Then before I had the layer completely off I heard about backlinking. I thought no problem but along with it came internal and external, broken, link juice and on and on.

While I was just trying to peel back a layer at a time here came all kinds of new terms. They were things like Google analytics, spiders, SERP, BERT and CTR among others.

By this time I realized I couldn’t just peel a layer at a time so I just set my onion aside and started wading through everything I needed to learn. The main problem is I keep running into more things that appear to be really important to making money as an affiliate marketer.

The journey is bumpier than I thought when I started but little by little it will get sorted out. There is so much to affiliate marketing that I don’t expect to be an expert but hope I’ll learn enough to make some money.

This is good to know, Don. It makes me wonder if its all really worth it being 80 years old.... I think it might be easier to be a Politician, and run away with all the money.... but its even too late for that ejejejej... but I'm a believer of affiliate marketing, so will follow your lead....

He tkysar,
Us old guys (I'm 84) have to stick together. I have started a Wordpress group called "Senior Lifestyle Today". If you get a chance check it out and see if you'd like to join.
Don

Good analogy, Don. I see the course and training presented simply and easy to follow but many of us wander outside, come back and bring another news and that complicates everything.

Let's say in the installation of plugins, there are suggested as the basic ones. For example, All-In-One SEO is an integral part of WordPress, others are saying they will alter it with Yoast which I think you can do it but it's not beneficial. These are not part of the Course and pieces of training we have here.

Hey Accad,
You're right about that. I've tried both AIO & Yoast but was turned off by both. I went with a totally free one call Rank Math. It has everything I need at no cost.
Don

I'll try to see that.

I'm with you, Don, on the confusion. Today, the problem with peeling the onion is that is is making me teary eyed. For Real!

I am trying, and have been for days, to link another affiliate's program to one of my posts, and I can't. I've been trying all kinds of approaches, but no luck.

I will be asking our dear members this as soon as I figure out how to address this question.

Hi Marion,
Send a PM to Kyle asking him to tell you which of his training session would help you. Good luck.

So true Don, sometimes I feel it's an endless road, but when I look back how much I learned in two months, I know I'm getting somewhere :) You are doing an amazing job by learning and realizing that little by little is just the exact way we need to proceed.

Hi Lenka,
I hope you don't have a couple of problems I have that keeps me from learning this stuff quickly. They are distraction & disorganization.
Don
