I Quit Wealthy Affiliate!
Why? Because I didn't have a mentor?
I did quit being active within the community for about a year due to circumstances beyond my control, but that's a whole other story!
Let me tell you about the person who brought me into WA. I was looking for reviews on work from home sites. Most of the reviews I found were, very obviously, paid for by the site and not genuine reviews.
Then I came across one that seemed really genuine and really gave me trustworthy information on the site I was investigating. I was told the site I was investigating was legit but that by the time I got info on jobs from them it was old and the jobs were probably filled and that I would be paying for nothing. I was impressed by such openness and honesty.
I was then told about Wealthy Affiliate with assurances that I could check them out without having to turn over my credit card. So, I checked it out. It was true! I've been a member ever since. Even though I was not active, I never gave up my membership because I knew I would return and did not want to lose all the material I had worked so hard to develop.
When I joined, I didn't have a clue! Websites were where you visited and looked at stuff other people put out there, right? I remember the first question I posed to this new "mentor" of mine. The answer was to copy and paste the URL! Now that may seem simple to most of you but I didn't have a clue what a URL was!!!!! I never asked that person another question. I got busy studying here and on the internet.
Long story short, or shortened, I found a whole community of mentors! People, like me, who had come up through the ranks at Wealthy Affiliate and learned the process through the courses and the help and advice offered by so many others willing to help.
It takes a village - I think!
Why would I want to go out and find a mentor to pay for personal attention and get only that one opinion on everything? I wouldn't, would you?

I can understand this. There's a lot of information to absorb, basically one step at a time, reviewing as necessary, as we go along!
Thanks Sharon. Everyone learns at different speeds and that's OK. But it is, ultimately, up to us to find those who can best help us here in the community and to do as much as we can on our own as well. The help is out there for everyone.

Yes, even the person that brings you in (if you know who it is) isn't always a mentor. I quit once too and didn't have a clue what to do next. Fortunately, there is a whole community out here that is willing to jump in. Glad you stayed and found all the help you needed.

Debbi, I had gotten a glimpse of what WA was offering me and I wanted it so much that no one was going to deter me from it. I watched some of Kyle's videos three and four times before I understood it all and I read every tutorial everyone made during that time. I had made up my mind and I was determined. I'm so glad that I didn't let one little confusing comment stand in my way. That's why I kept up my membership during the time I had to be inactive - I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that I would be active again.

I think there's a lot to be said for having a mentor, if they are knowledgeable and push you past what you think you're capable of.
But.....
I would not want to lose the variety of perspective that exists here at WA. Besides, my posts now all go to page one. Why would I transfer anywhere else?

When I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I didn't have a clue about anything too, and what great mentors I have found here, taking me by the hand and pilot me through the material, chapeau for the community!
