Hi, so I've been keeping an eye on my indexed pages (only just recently registered with analytics/webmasters so that's all early days) and some pages are just not being indexed

First off you are expecting indexing to happen too soon for a website that is only 3 weeks old. It can take weeks for Google to index content of a website that is less than a month old and does not have a lot of content.

Do not worry so much about indexing so soon in your website progression. It takes time for all of this to happen with a brand new website, and rankings will even take longer. Just make sure you are producing quality content, most without affiliate links.

Hi thanks, I have affiliate links on about 2/3 pages out of nearly 40. Waiting for approval with programs/adsense has taken a lot of time. Rejections have meant I have to restart the process a couple of times too.

All I do is write content tbh.

I have read your post about patience re. this and it was helpful and I had largely ignored indexing as this has been going on since the start but it was the fact that some of the older pages aren't getting indexed yet newer pages are was a bit confusing and I thought worth mentioning with the below de-indexing issue and my 'relief' at spotting a possible trend, or so I thought...

As I say some pages are definitely getting de-indexed and I thought it might be better to try and understand why so I can rectify this (if I can) in case this is a fundamental issue. I don't want to keep making the same mistake for example.

I've done a bit of searching and de-indexing seems negative no matter where I look, without any mention of site age making it an irrelevance. Maybe it is...

Do pages change from being indexed, de-indexed back to indexed etc regularly.... so it's no concern due to it being a fluid process? Or is it a 'stable' position? If it's the latter it's hard not to be a little concerned.

Your de-indexing problems could stem from the fact that you have way too many pages with affiliate links. Affiliate links should be on no more that 20% of your overall content.

Google does not like affiliate marketing websites that have a lot of affiliate links. Your website needs to help people and not sell to them. When you help people you add value and that is what Google wants to see.

As for AdSense, do not even bother with it. It will be a total waste of time unless you are getting at least a couple of thousands of organic visitors to your website every month. Plus Google is not going to accept your application now if they haven't already.

I do not even bother with AdSense on any of my websites because I know I can make far more money from affiliate links than I could ever make from Google.

I don't know if you read the above as two-thirds ('2/3') but that's not what I meant. What I'm actually saying is I have affiliate links on at most 2 or 3 pages out of 40 and that was only because of the training so was just testing the waters with them. I'm just trying to keep to the training so I don't miss anything. I've barely done anything with affiliates outside of this on my site.

The de-indexing was happening before any of this anyway. I'm confident it's not an affiliate program issue.

(re. adsense, I agree but I'm just following the training again and doing it for info./point of ref. on the one page when it's set-up like Kyles suggests. I will probably not bother with it going forward. All the research and even Kyle in training isn't particularly favourable)

Oh, okay I did read that wrong. What is the link to your website? Let me take a look at it to see if I can see anything that may be the cause.

Oh thanks, appreciate it.

Not sure why you are getting de-indexed, it looks ok with me.

I did a site search on Google of your website and it shows that 31 pages/posts on your website are indexed. Perhaps over time the remaining 9 or 10 posts will be re-indexed.

I've been refreshing it out interest today every now and again and one story re-emerged but then later disappeared. I see a lot of the older posts aren't indexed any longer apart from one involving a more obscure team. It's weird, I'm thinking the stories are so widely covered I'm not authoritative enough to maintain an indexed story on them.

I was already trying to cover more teams so I think if there's an ounce of truth to my theory my approach is the right one. I'll just keep plugging away with the content and try and not get too hung up on it for now.

Thanks for the advice and taking the time out to check, much appreciated.
Dan

You are welcome.

If you want to see all of the content that Google has indexed just go to Google and type in the search bar the following

site:http://footy-matters.com

All one word, site: and then your domain name without the https

Yeah that's been my only way of checking given my google accounts are still new/verifying/etc.

Hi,

I'm wasting a fair bit of time trying to find pics (which are often not the best) which comply with license terms/are free, not to mention constantly typing in author

I've found this on twitters FAQs : https://support.twitter.com/articles/20169559

To much relief it seems it's find to embed tweets on to your website, good news and work around if you're struggling to find pics as some are included within tweets.

Hey Dan,

You need to be VERY careful NOT to use images you are not absolutely certain that you have the right to use. Here's why I say this: http://www.eparrs.com/blog/when-free-isnt-free-at-all/

Be sure to read the post all the way to the end for helpful tip on where best to find images.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the info. I'm certainly a bit wiser but nonetheless I'm still interested in where I stand re. Twitter. I've effectively linked a tweet with a picture within is that ok?

I certainly won't copy any pictures straight over with what you said in mind though (as I have no idea what the license situation with these) So thanks for answering that aspect.

Am not sure of any legal issues with images on Twitter Dan, sorry.

No worries, you've been a big help nonetheless.

Thank you Dan!
