This Business Takes Time
Last year, I created a website for my friend's pet sitting business. All I did was add a contact page, an about page, a prices page, and a sign up form on the home page.
Then I offered to create an ad campaign in order to get more traffic and she declined. She preferred to start out with free traffic and then work her way up.
Sure enough, I left the website alone and so did she; she wanted to focus on Facebook which was fine by me.
Well... two days ago, I received an email from a lead. It was a gentleman who needed his dog sat next month.
What does that tell me?
That it's taken almost a year for her website to start getting organic traffic with no effort whatsoever. Mind you it's local marketing but it still works.
She just got a customer for doing nothing... just having a website! Imagine how many more she'd have if she actually gave her website a little TLC?
The same goes for you as well.
This business takes time. You can't just create a website today and expect commissions to start rolling in 2 hours from now. It takes time and consistency... but it works.
All you need is quality content, a thorough understanding of SEO, and passion.

This is a good story and one that is likely going to resonate with many folks here.
You can't setup a website and expect significant results without putting ongoing effort into that website.
People want a business to generate revenue, but they treat it far differently from work in the sense that they somehow think that creating a business will take "less" work than their normal job.
If everyone invested the same amount of time and energy into their businesses that they did their job, they would be MUCH more successful.
What you do NOW pays off later and often times forever in the online business world.

You're absolutely right. An online business is similar to a brick and mortar because they both take time to succeed.
As a former chef, I've opened up like 5 restaurants. Two years ago, I opened up a gastropub and the owner wanted to throw in the towel after the first three months because business died down.
I had to explain to him that most restaurants don't make profit within their first year. Fast forward a year later and we became one of the top craft beer places in the city for locals.
It's all about building your foundation; putting in the time and the work. Like you said... what we're doing now is going to pay off later and often.

Agree with you on that one. Be Patient. Be Committed. Stay focused.
Key ingredients there my friend. You can have all the personal development books and the most expensive training; but if you're not focused, committed, AND patient, you'll never get to where you wanna go.
