Having a Hard Time Writing Awesome Headlines

I see all these awesome headlines. I have a list of headline formulas. But I am having difficulty using the keywords I find with the keyword tool into these headline formulas.

Here are examples of awesome headlines that I found on a successful website:

  • 6 Ways to Make your Makeup Last
  • Why you Ned Prickly Pear Products
  • How you Should be Applying Face Oils
  • Turn Turmeric into an Acne Mask

My keyword research shows that these are not phrases people search for.

I find that a lot of the keywords I can rank for don't make good headlines.

Can you name your post something different from your permalink. Could I use my target keyword (that I have found with the keyword tool) as my permalink, but change my headline to fit the formula of a good headline?

Hello. Is the misspelling of need intentional?
Your permalink and your Heading MUST be the same or it will become a 404.
Use your best keyword as the first word as your title.
Hope this helps.
Robert

haha oops, i spelled need wrong! Thanks for your help :)

Hi.

I did post about blog post titles - there's two ways of looking at them:

1) They need to be centred around your keyword for SEO purposes, or
2) They need to catch the visitors imagination, and therefore stand out amongst the crowd (whether that's SERPs or social media posts)

(ideally both boxes would be ticked)

The one's you mentioned above, that maybe are not what people search for, would actually make ideal headlines if posted on social networks - as they simply stand out - that's the beauty of them.

If you're targeting keywords that will show up when looking through google etc, then you're right to be looking for serp's - but they still need to stand out when people are scanning the results.

If you're interested, my post is here: I will say upfront, it will take you to a blog post title idea generator on my website - but it's the website promoting WA - so I hope this response doesn't get tagged as spam. If you don't want to see my WA website, please don't click the link above.

If you're genuinely interested in just getting some ideas for catchy titles (that you may be able to find some keyword ideas for), then please check it out.

All the best, Mark

thanks Mark, I will check it out!

Dont use keywords in headlines then, use them in the first line of ur blogs , mine got ranked so :)

I will try that, thanks!

Yes, you can edit your permalink to match your keyword phrase even if your title doesn't.

Will google problems come later? As google changes algorithms?

I wouldn't think so. If your permalink also has the targeted phrase in the first paragraph, Google should know what to rank you for.

I am willing to break something to find out :) Game changer. TY
And I'm sorry for hijacking your thread DJ-Drea! Glad you asked though.

That's what these threads are for. So you can ask and get answers to questions you never thought to ask :)

I was wondering about that too, posting different than the permalink.

How is it that there are rankings and traffic if the keyword is not a good keyword?
