First your post needs to be indexed, meaning it needs to be added to Google's search index. Once done then it can start ranking.
You can update your post anytime you like, in fact Google likes that. Just don't change the title because that's the link that Google uses. But you can add/change anything within your post.
And yes each time your site is crawled by Google your content will be updated in the search index.
You can also give Google a heads up that you've published a post or have updated things by going into your Google Search Console and use the Request Indexing feature.

AIOSEO score of my "about" page is about 80%. The errors are,
1. no internal/external links,
2. less number of words than recommended.
Does 'about' page
google likes ot have a minimum of 500 words to consider indexing it...
so always make sure any content you want indexed is longer than this...
with an about me i would still always put your visitors first...
show them what your site is going to do for them....
then what your site is about and why they should listen to you...
why use up their valuable time reading what you have written...
it is a page to gain more trust and credability...
within this you can use links to internal pages...where do you want hte visitor to do next...and maybe an external link to wiki for a keyword...
you can always come back and rewrite your page as you grow within your niche ...

The default setting will use your site content as the meta description which is way too long. To change that, select the post you want to fix the meta description of and click Edit. Once in the editor scroll down the page and you will find the meta title and the meta description towards the bottom. Remove what is showing in the meta description box and add up to 160 charactures for a new description. This training tutorial from Jay may help as well. Those are guidelines to follow based on the All-in-One SEO plugin. If you go a little under or a little over in character length, it will not hurt your SEO.
