WA Ranking Algorithm Update
So, I am simply going to copy and paste what Kyle said in response to a member's question. Not sure why he didn't create a blog post on this, as it addresses some concerns about the WA ranking system.
The implication is, that members who respond to questions with a simple reply such as "I see you got your answer" or "thanks for asking, I have learned something" will not be ranked as high as those who actually answer the question.
Of course, I am sure we all know that there is nothing to be gained from a higher ranking, other than the satisfaction of helping other members. So, here is Kyle's statement in full.
"We have just rolled out our latest round of algorithm updates. The rank is something that we are constantly evaluating, refining, and improving upon based what makes sense as an "ambassador".
Although this update consisted of MANY updates, a few of the main ones were addressing:
(1) Those that have been helping people for a longer period of time, should have greater rewards than those that have a shorter period of time. New members can still move through the ranks, but someone that has been helping actively for the last 5-6 years shouldn't be ousted by someone that has been here 3 months and is helping around the same amount.
(2) People that are communicating will get rank, but those that are actively helping others will get higher rank.
(3) Those that are actually going through the training and using the tools/services here at WA are going to see their ranks go up, whereas those that are strictly communicating will not be able to achieve as high of a rank.
All of these items have been given careful thought and we feel that they are moves in the right direction.
You will see more shuffles as we move through the year and the ambassador rank algorithmic updates
Ultimately you want to focus on your business, that is your first focus. Naturally being involve here within WA, the training, the discussions, etc....will lead to improvement in your WA rank and your relationships that you will build here within the community.

It will be a fairer ranking as some members help a lot in providing solutions, but they could be ranked lower than members who just say "I see you got your answer" or something like that. Saying that is not bad as it supports members who ask questions but that doesn't mean being a Top Helper. That kind of comment should help Activity Rank rather than Helper Rank.

Yes it did and I did hear this from kyle once and I thought it was something to consider doing for those that dont speak out very much like me. Having enough courage to say a few words then later maybe more. But it's good to know thank you.
