The Dizzy Heights of Highest Quality

As promised, we now take a look at the Highest Quality pages, the ultimate accolade in Google's eyes, and therefore, we can assume, deemed worthy of that page 1 spot. I am disappointed, that the guidelines in some respect are quite "wishy-washy" - they simply emphasise the previous qualities required to achieve the high status, but add the word very to it.

In other words - a very high level of expertise, a very satisfying amount of content, a very positive reputation. Head to page 25 of the manual for the full description.

As regards content, the important thing to note, is that Google evaluators accept that those with everyday expertise are capable of producing the highest quality. However, they return to the Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) topics, such as health, where they require "well-established medical/scientific/historical consensus" - I take this to mean you should cite any references to back up any findings.

A very positive reputation seems easier to attain; a site needs to be highly popular (this could be where having lots of comments comes into play), and focused on helping users (one of the first things we are taught here at WA).

Finally, another reference to the health and finance fields. Note this particular phrase "Formal expertise is important for topics such as medical, financial, or legal advice". Does this imply that only those with relevant qualifications can be deemed as having the highest quality content? Your guess is a good as mine!

Tomorrow, I focus on the opposite end of the scale - the lowest score. What mistakes are you making which may be holding your site back?

Diane - Your most recent posts have convinced me that just be yourself, write from the heart and full throttle ahead. I have come to the conclusion that they just may not want members to know how they are judging these pieces of work. You've got to tell a story, sell a product, review someone or something in as best orderly fashion as you can and ignore the noise of indexing. Remember that there is a beginning (Statement or question). Then get into the meat of the problem. Show some real solutions. Collect some Email addresses, get some feedback allowing you to fine tune you website. Remember, during feedback put it in such a way that you are not appearing weak, just ask a question in a way that makes the person want to participate. Again when asking for the order or the call to action, do so again by not appearing weak by asking an inviting challenging question. Remember, when someone knocks at your front door and you feel comfortable with that person what do you do; Would you like to come In?

Worth the wait, at least it clarifies to some extent. in regard to your last but one paragraph, MozMary wrote a post about Google, SEO and censorship, is that relevant ? So much of this is above my pay grade but I do at least try to get a 'handle ' on it.

Thanks for the information Diane.

Derek

I follow what Kyle says to do and I get ranked pretty well. I just need to write more content.

I think Google is full of nutty people.

What would you expect, Google is full of crazy people.
