Setting Myself a Challenge

So, in December, I will have been here 2 years, and in that period of time I have gained a huge amount of knowledge. I have several websites, and when I look back at those I started at the beginning of my journey, I can see many errors and a lack of understanding of all the processes required for success. Since then, I have applied my learning and updated many of those sites for the best SEO optimisation.

Now, I am setting myself a new challenge. I have recently become interested in a particular niche subject, which to me, is endlessly fascinating, and has a huge amount of topics I can write about. I already have ideas added to a spreadsheet for my first 22 posts! So, I am building a brand new website from scratch, using everything I now know.

This will include in-depth keyword research, making use of Google Search Console for indexing, writing long, informative posts no less than 1800 words, setting up social media and engaging with it every day, scheduling my Tweets from now until the end of the year, using internal and external linking, embedding videos, using meta titles and meta descriptions, creating images and using alt text, getting comments on all posts and in effect, spending 3 hours every day on my website.

I will report back every month, and let you know how I am getting on. In effect, you will all be my accountability partner! Wish me luck, I'm going in!

Hi Diane,

You are onto something exciting here. It is very much success focused using all the things you learned in Wealthy Affiliate.

I am looking forward to your reports on how this works out for you. What benchmarks will you be using to measure your progress and success?

All the best to you.

Edwin

Hi - I have already set up Google Analytics and Search Console, and I will be adding my keywords to Jaaxy for tracking. I don't plan on monetizing until I have daily traffic.

That makes a lot of sense. I am three posts shy of 100 on my MMO website and traffic is just starting to rise. Monetizing will take a bit longer.

Thanks for sharing Diane.

Cheers.

Edwin

Sounds like a plan and great to hear that the learning pays off. Just the fact that you are aware of what didn't work and making tweaks will surely make a difference.
I will be watching and hopefully we can keep each other accountable to moving forward with our business plans.

Hello Diane.
Sounds like you are about to make a lot of things happen.
With all that part time knowledge you have learned over the last two years you are about to put things into overdrive. Looking forward to hearing about your advances.
Cheers to your success.
Be safe.
Mike

Sounds superb Diane.

I can't wait to follow your progress, I'm bound to learn a huge amount.

I have almost been doing the same thing for the last few weeks.

I created a website about 5 months ago (it is a niche that I love), but only added 2 articles in the first month, as I was working on another one of my sites..

I added a few more articles in August, but to be honest they were pretty slapdash, and not a huge amount of thought went into them.

However, I've been far more concentrated and consistent during September.

I typically follow everything that you have mentioned above, although I have a tendency to "go on a little" (in the offline world too).

It just seems natural for me to write around 2,500 words. So, perhaps I need to learn to shut up and just get to the point (same with this reply, SORRY).

I also need to work on the social media aspect.

I share my articles between 3-4 scoial media sites, but I'm not exactly what you'd call "active" on any of these.

I'm leaning towards Twitter too.

I've also been a little inspired by your post: So, I have gone and found myself a low competition, 3-word keyword and I am aiming to get as close as I possibly can to 1,890 words.

I'll follow the SEO checklist, pretty much as you've mentioned above, plus get some comments, and see what happens.

(I'm sure I'll write about over the next week or so).

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to reading your blog posts during December (and always) and following the journey.

Thanks
Partha

Good Morning Diane,

It is very exciting to start a new website. I wish you lots of success on this new adventure.

I started a new site in May. It was completely different from what I had wanted, but circumstances changed my mind. It was a lot easier than my 2 sites in my beginning times, January 2017. From having 0 knowledge, I have learned quite a bit during these years.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske
