So, never forget the true purpose of your blog is to provide solutions to your reader's problems. And not only do they want answers, but they also want the solution to be easy, quick or spelt out for them step by step.

These types of posts are likely to attract more visitors. You want them to think "this isn't that hard after all" or "this might be easier than I thought it would be". Do your blog posts promise that ease and simplicity?

Perhaps you could go back over some of your posts and see if you can add the words easy, quick or step by step. You can use synonyms too such as effortless, painless, straightforward, uncomplicated or successful.

Take a look at these titles that can be made more appealing:

  • Ways to Make Money Online - Five Easy Ways to Make Money Online
  • How to Potty Train a Toddler - How to Potty Train a Toddler in Only Three Days
  • How to Start a Blog - How to Start a Blog Step by Step

And follow your own example. Make your post easy to read, quick to skim through and add bullet points for step by step instructions.

Thank you for your time, in talking about this because I am new here and I have not even started a blog yet I really don't know what a blog is or how to go about starting one. I know that we are somewhat expected to have a blog, but I am really inexperienced with ALL of this technology and terminology that I feel like a toddler trying to take my first step. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
GOD BLESS,
Derral

Hi - well, a blog is just another way of describing the articles that you will write for your website on your chosen niche subject.

Hi Diane,

This post was very insightful. As bloggers, we always want to help and provide solutions to visitors on our sites. Also, keeping things simple as you brought up about post titles.

These are things I’m keeping in mind as I begin a new niche site. I agree with you on providing step-by-step solutions, and ones that are simple to implement.

I enjoyed reading this post. Thanks for sharing!

Best,

-Eric

These are important tips to follow while writing our blog posts. Thanks for sharing Diane.

Hi Diane, thanks a lot for sharing your very helpful tips and advice for us to all benefit from as always.

I'm all for using simplicity and ease when it comes to increasing our readers UX, but do you think the length of a post has a lot to do with readers returning to our sites, (for example hitting the magic 1000 words)?

Or, just giving simple to understand, shorter posts, of say 400-500 words as the better option as long as the question has been answered, but not in so much detail?

Hi - the most important factor to consider, is what your competitors are doing. Have a look to see who is ranking on page 1 of Google for the keyword you are using. Read their posts.

For example, if everybody is writing at least 1200 words, you are unlikely to beat them with 500 words.

Thanks Diane. It is always important to see how our competitors are doing and checking out the top ranked posts for our selected keywords.

But as you say, 'unlikely to beat them', means that it's not impossible, and a much shorter, straight to the point and highly informative post that answers the question well could achieve no1 ranking.

Your help is always much appreciated my friend.

Thank you, Diane,

Ntlhane
