Have You Ever Updated Your "About Me" Page?

So, that's a pretty strange question, right?

If you follow the WA training, then your "About Me" page will be the first thing you write for your website.

Did it send you into a panic?

Especially, if the last time you wrote anything was at school.

Maybe you rushed it, just to get something on your site, so you could get on with the next lesson.

If it's more than 6 months ago since you wrote it, why not go back and have a look at it?

Does it accurately reflect what your website is about, now you have added lots of content?

Maybe your niche has moved on from what you initially decided.

Have you yourself evolved in any way?

Did you say you were a beginner, or just starting the journey?

Update it, to say that you have experience in your niche.

And, of course, after this period of time, you will undoubtedly have become a better writer.

Your "About Me" page is also important to Google.

Google uses it to establish your expertise, authority, and trustworthiness.

This is especially true when it comes to medical, financial, or legal advice.

Google expects to see formal expertise, career experience, and education relating to these niche subjects.

So, don't be shy in showing off, if you have any relevant qualifications!

As an example, if you were to write a post about "the correct dosage of aspirin when pregnant", Google will check to see if you have the authority to write on such a subject, because it could impact somebody's life.

So, if your "About Me" page states that you have a professional health qualification, then Google could consider ranking this post highly.

But, if your page simply says something along the lines of I'm a mom of 3 kids and I want to share tips that helped me through my pregnancies, then you do not have the expertise to write on a potentially dangerous medical topic.

That's today's suggestion - go back to your About Me page and see if you can improve it!

Hi Diane,

I think updating the “About” page on any website is important. When it comes to establishing ourselves as authorities in our niches, that page will matter overtime.

I update my “About” page usually once or twice a year. I know that I’ve evolved in the niche website I’m in, so it’s good to update my knowledge and expertise.

That’s a good reminder. Thank you for sharing :)

Regards,

-Eric

This is great advice, thanks for sharing :)

Great advice, thanks, Diane.

I did rush through it initially, no doubt about that. I'll swing back around and make some modifications. Thank you for the reminder!!

Thanks for the reminder 👍
