Encourage More Subscribers

So, you may have heard that the "money is in the list" and eagerly added an option on your site for subscribers to sign up. Is this actually working for you? Or are you sadly disappointed that very few people are interested? What are you actually offering to your visitors?

If all you are doing, is telling them that they will be notified of new posts, then they may not bother. After all, they can simply bookmark your site and head over whenever they wish.

You need to give them a good reason to sign up, by offering something that they can receive immediately. Much like tempting them with a delicious plate of cakes as pictured! At the very least, a newsletter promising them the latest news, special offers for subscribers, the best deals, etc.

However, a free eBook is undoubtedly the best idea. And you can bet your bottom dollar that your competitors already know this. So, let's spy on them and see what they are doing, and get some ideas for your own eBook at the same time.

Head over to Google and type in "your niche ebook free". In my example, I am going to use dog training. So, I typed in "dog training ebook free" and then click on images.

As you can see, this comes up with lots of results, but not all of them are blogs, so you do need to study them. However, just looking at these images will give you ideas of what is being given away. For example, The Power of Positive Reinforcements, How Dogs Learn, Housetraining 101, etc. In a way, the research has been done for you. You can see the type of eBook your visitors might enjoy.

If you want, you can take this a stage further by selecting one, and heading over to to the website it is being given away from. In this case, I chose The Power of Positive Reinforcement and went to the site.

As you can see, they have the Free Ebook on their top menu, and by clicking this, you are taken to a sign-up page. Having signed up, you will be sent the free book, and in return, the website now has your email address, ready to send you newsletters, etc that will contain affiliate links or links to their review posts, etc.

I guess the biggest challenge will be actually writing the eBook. However, if you think of it as a series of ongoing posts, similar to what you would write for your site, with each one being a chapter, then it won't be so daunting. It doesn't have to be an epic, even 5 or 6 pages will do.

Let me know if you are going to try this. If you are not sure how to set up a subscription option on your site or what to do to send out the book or how to send out further emails, rest assured there is plenty of training on this.

This is awesome, Diane! I did this in December 2020 with an eBook. So, it took me 2-1/2 years to finally do it... LOL!!

It just took me a bit to figure out how to do it. It really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. There is training here in WA on it. I don't remember which one I followed, but you are 100% on this.

Cheers!
Bob

Hello Diane I am very interested in learning how tho do this I'm not quite to the writing an e-book just yet but I would really like to learn how to offer one for my readers and how to promote my website even further. I ultimately want to start making money doing affiliate work as well but I'm kind of stuck in a rut so to speak any advice will help thank you..

Hi - in the early stages of your website, you need to concentrate on adding lots of original, informational articles to attract Google's attention. You need to show that you are an authority in a particular niche subject. Happy to take a look at your site if you want to PM me the details.

my site is healthylivesonline take a look please tell me what you think and how to improve im into the health and fitness niche and would like to promote some affiliate products as well as some new ideas on dieting and fitness..

Hi - your site is only a couple of weeks old, with only three blog posts. However, health, wellness and fitness is one of the most competitive niches and you really need to concentrate on just one small aspect of it to see any success. And you need to find a target audience.

So, if you are interested in the dieting aspect, pick just one diet for a certain group of people. For example, the Dash Diet for older women or the Mediterranean diet for vegetarians etc.

Or if you want to focus on gym equipment, it could be weight training at home for middle-aged men or bodybuilding for teenagers etc.

You can't just flip from one random health subject to another, writing just one post on each subject. You need to find a narrow niche that you have some knowledge and experience of, and be happy to write hundreds of posts on that subject.

That sounds great thank you. I knew I was a little broad on the subject I do like all aspects of diet and health but narrowing it down will definitely help me with my content instead of being all over the place. I appreciate the advice and won't hesitate to ask any more questions if I'm not pestering you too much LoL!!!!!

You're welcome, happy to help!

Super post. Very useful. I’m sitting down right now thinking of my eBook outline. Wow what a marvelously practical idea. Love it. Thanks so much for sharing this idea.

Nice, thank you 😊

Hey Scorpio I hadn't been around lately and I'm so happy you wrote on what to give away as a free gift to get people to sign up to your web site. I love your ideas -- I follow you religiously (no pun intended). I just have to be patient and take it one step at a time. So much to learn and so little time!
