You have talent!

Yes, I know. Some days it seems like there is so much to learn to build your affiliate website business.

And truly, there is a never-ending flow of useful material, tips, techniques.

But you have talent!

The talents I see here at WA span a wide range.

  • writer
  • artist/graphic designer
  • social media saavy (one platform or many)
  • tech master
  • SEO expertise
  • and so many more

Few people hold strong talent in all of these, but all of us have the ability to master some of them.

Using your talent and building upon it helps you build your site. You still need to keep up with the other aspects, of course. But your talent will keep you propelled forward.

For instance, I was a good writer before the internet was a thing. I am always learning new ways to use that talent on websites. It's different than what I had done before the internet, but the basics are there.

I am definitely not a social media master, but I manage. And I'm learning more tech skills as I go, out of necessity.

Another person might be quite apt at social media but needs to work on the writing aspect. Different people, different talents.

The important thing is to find your talent and use that to build. Don't neglect the other areas where you need to use more effort (me with social media, for instance).

While your talent won't stretch to all parts of this business, it will help you in some aspects. And that provides energy and inspiration to push harder to conquer the tougher parts.

Another thought on talents...

We are each at our own point on this path. Don't compare your talents to those of others. That becomes a trap.

Rather, use your talents to the best of your ability. Build on them. Keep learning. That learning curve might take a different angle, but it is a never ending line, not a line segment. Always keep learning. Schedule time for learning something new.

You might even discover a talent you have that you never knew existed!

Use what talents you possess; The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang the best

Hi Diane. Thanks for writing this. Many of the points you make ring true with me.
I think we're all guilty of underestimating our own skills. Usually something you find obvious and easy many do not, but you take it for granted everybody finds it the same, Easy to underestimate your own skills.
On the contrary side, many times comparing your own skills to others you can feel somewhat intimidated by others when in fact they feel the same as the point above and undervalue their own skills. As you say, better to not always compare your position to theirs as it can be demotivating. Don't dwell on the negatives.
Also as Hugh points out below sometimes you just need to accept that you cannot do everything and sometimes need to delegate tasks to others. Knowing when to employ someone else to do a task, is a skill in itself and is no reflection on yourself.
Got to say, I am enjoying learning all the skills you've listed to develop & maintain our web site. It's not all plain sailing and at times challenging - but I continue to get satisfaction from doing it.

You bring up some very good points, Ian. It can be daunting and sometimes you just need to delegate, when you are able.

Learning does provide satisfaction, in itself. I love the challenge and the feeling when I finally reach a new level of understanding!

The great thing about WA is that training and sharing expertise add to personal talent to help us do everything needed for an online business.

Yes, Jim, you make a very good point!

Hi Diane
Ironically most of us don’t realise that we have a talent until someone else points out that the thing we do so easily is difficult for them!
:-)
Richard

That is so true, Richard!

Excellent read, very true there are hidden talents in all of us and we only discover them with time, also some of us are multitalented but they don't get the right guidance or maybe they are surrounded with negative thoughts and people or bad company.

You bring up some good points! It's important to avoid the negatives and keep reaching for the best and most helpful!

Thank you dear, am learning on daily basis over here form expertise like you.

You are welcome!
It's always good to hear that we are helping others along the way.

Have a great day!

Everyday is learning process, it's the well to learn.

I love it when you said that We are each at our own point on this path. That we Don't compare our talents to those of others in order to avoid falling into trap or cnd I embellish it the more, ' it means to get trapped in another person's world'.
Thanks so much for this eye opener.

I am happy that you found the post interesting and useful!
It is important to walk your own path, while learning from others, too!
