Some Social Media Bumps and Hurdles

Social Media Annoys me

I realize that's not a secret. I think everyone knows how I feel about it. But as much as it annoys me, I also know that it is important to the success of most websites.

And so I continue pursuing it.

Today I had to ask one of my daughters to walk me through part of the Instagram features. I know, some 5 year olds manage IG just fine. Well, I am not a 5 year old. And so I went to a 22 year old for advice.

I suppose it's only fair. She came to me for advice many times through the years, just as daughters do. And so now, it's her turn.

To be fair, one of my sons also came to my rescue. Is there any part of tech that young adults have trouble with? I don't think so.

I have sort of figured out Facebook through the years. And Pinterest, mostly. But Instagram is another animal altogether.

Why can't they just have a simple desktop app to use for it? Appease those of us who use our phones for calling and yes, sometimes texting. 😂

Sure, I use mine for photos, too. But the images I wanted on IG were not on my phone.

Hurdles appeared!

But now, too much time later, I have overcome the first of the IG hurdles. Yes, I have posted on Instagram!

Should I be ashamed to say that here? After all, probably many of the WA members fly right through the social media aspects.

But the reason for this post is just that. Some struggle with writing posts. Others find research and keyword selection to be their biggest challenge. For some of us, it's social media.

No one has it all the way on Easy Street here. We all have some struggles and also some areas that are easier.\

Whatever your struggle, don't give up. Ask for help. You can ask friends or family. Or just ask here on WA.

Those hurdles don't have to win.

But you might need a little help in jumping over them.

(Or maybe going around them!)

Fire hasn't given up, even with the odds against her! Tomorrow she begins chemo, in hopes of shrinking that lung tumor!

And so, today, I give you two quotes that might help motivate you to keep trying...

“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” ―Harriet Beecher Stowe

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” ―Thomas Edison

God bless little Fire and wishing her a speedy recovery.
I know exactly where you are coming from. I never would have believe that this time in my mature years I would be designing a website, which has raised many eyebrows lol, as for social media I think everything has been said 🤦‍♀️but hey 'it's never too late!' is my motto.
So hang on in there we are the generation of experience, knowledge and simply know how! and goes to show how many hurdles we have jumped to be where we are now.
So keep going Diane you are on the right track!.👍

Thank you, Julia! I do appreciate your kind words.

Is this an age thing? Well lets look.at it from the bright side,we live through our time doing things our way,now we get the chance to live in our children world where things change and are more complicated. We are lucky to live in both world God bless and we will make it if we try.

I suppose that is quite true, Michael. We are indeed blessed to know the broader spectrum of life.

Hi Diane, when it comes to tech stuff it is amazing the knowledge the younger generation has. I still try to program my cell, when desperation comes into play, I have to ask a younger friend or my nephew-in-law. I still have problems with sharing my posts on Instagram. You are blessed with your daughters, that is awesome.

All the best,

Michael

It's true, Michael. The younger set seems to relate better to technology. I plan to keep my kids helping as much as possible!

I am the same with social media. Yes, I am old! So I usually rely on my kids for help. Some are willing to help, others want me to google the problem and figure it out on my own. I think this is because that's the way I would help them learn things, sometimes! Oh well, either way it's still a challenge.
I like your quotes, they're very inspiring. I hope the chemo works for Fire. It's so hard watching someone you love suffer.
Thanks for the post.
Nina

I laughed as I read your post, Nina. I also was the Mom who told the kids to look up information, rather than just giving them the answers. I still do. And I do try asking Google but sometimes (maybe often) I need that step-by-step help from my techy kids!
