Wow, it's like I read your mind. I started filling these out earlier today. I noticed I'll rank on Google but only through my posts on my google+ account (since I publish my posts there too). I hope this helps!
Hmmm. I think you should have had training anout keywords early on. Someone didn't lead you exactly straight, or some miscommunication occured. Now is a good time to start focusing on keywords.
Too many links, with not enough content will hurt your google ranking.
Lastly, I think the giveaway is a great idea if it's affordable. I wouldn't give anything away without at least an email sogn up. It's very important to be able to market to these people, follow up, etc., in the future. Hope this helps, Geoff
Not sure why anyone would tell you not to worry about keywords. You can create awesome content AND focus on keywords at the same time. Keywords are what gets you traffic. No keywords, virtually no traffic.
As for the baby books thing with the affiliate links, don't worry about it. Google doesn't care. It's a myth that they rank sites lower due to affiliate links - they are basically nofollow anyway. However, do try to put in a few posts without affiliate links as well, mostly for the user experience.
Hope this helped!

Anyone know if there's a way to put ad codes on a specific page? Amazon helped me generate a product specific group ad but it would really only relate to one page.
The easiest way to do this in my experience is via widgets... I use one called 'widgets on pages' all the time .... you simply upload the plugin, add any text or html (in your case your amazon code that was provided to you) to a 'text widget' (built into WordPress) - then drag that text widget over to a 'widgets on pages' widget area... it sounds complicated but it's really not..
Once you've placed the text into the widgets on pages area, just use the short code provided anywhere on your site that is 'widget ready'... most themes are widget ready by default these days, but even if yours isn't completely, you could place your ad on any post/page/sidebar/footer/header - really anywhere... It's a fantastic plugin and it's free too! it can be found here:
https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/widgets-on-pages
Other options are to use a theme that is sort of 'meant' for ad rotation... so there are areas all over the site pre-programmed to present ads throughout... other premium and free plugins are available that will offer even more functionality such as scheduled ad rotation and tracking, etc.
These are great alternatives if you're looking to place many ads throughout your site and want them all to get equal or pre-determined visibility; but if you just have a single ad and want to put it where you want to put it, I highly recommend Widgets on Pages. Let me know if you have any other trouble with this and I'll be happy to help! :)

(I've been using this plugin for years and years and still do - without problems - but apparently others have had compatibility problems with WP versions older than 3.4 or so.. but like I said, this has not had any effect on me).... There are so many similar plugins too if you simply search the plugin repository.... You can do that through your site's dashboard or from this link:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/
There are soooo many hidden gems in the 40K plus plugins available for free download! :)
Did we just become best friends?! Lol Jk I just really appreciate the info! Just what I needed to know! Thank you so much. If you don't mind, I will follow you now lol have a great weekend!
Of course we're besties! :D And I'm very happy to help any time you run into any issues! I'm not the queen of WP by a long stretch, but I've made enough mistakes and found enough solutions over the years that I hope I can be of help to you and others! Thanks for following back and it's very nice to meet you! :)
