The Google Affiliate
Something just came across the local website here in Thailand regarding Google and what they are working towards.
According to Reuters Google is teaming up directly with retailers in the US including Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Costco and Ultra Beauty.
Apparently Google gets thousands of image queries regarding "Where can I buy xxx?" (where xxx is an image of product).
Under the new program retailers can list their products on Google search as well as on the Google Express shopping service and Google Assistant on mobiles and voice devices.
In exchange for the listings and links to retailer loyalty programs the retailers pay Google a piece of each purchase which is different from payments that retailers make to place ads on Google platforms
Google wants to offer retailers a better chance to influence shoppers decisions in a move that will likely help them to compete with Amazon.
Does this explain why Google has been tightening the screws on Affiliate marketers recently?
Are they out to put us out of business?

They're not trying to put us out of business, they're just trying to get our business to impact their bottom line.
That is the nature of the internet. Don't worry about the competition, you can make a good living off the leavings of the big boys.

Google makes nothing if we build traffic organically. So you could be on the right track, but I doubt they can put independent affiliate "organic" marketers 100% out of business. But they certainly can make it harder and harder to earn with their increasing restrictions and regulations regarding content. And that could certainly diminish the numbers of affiliate marketers on the net......the mentality would be, "why bother if it's that difficult." Adhering to the teaching here in WA is important......Carson and Kyle will keep up with Google's mandates as well as anyone can. The truth though is, it appears access to organic traffic is changing.

Yes, I agree, things are changing and so far it does not look like positive changes.
WA will take care of us and advise as we go forward. But, big brother is no longer just watching.....
Labman is right.....the way it seems to be turning, we can make good money just by staying in the draft of the major speedsters, like race car drivers do.......get pulled along. Both Google and Facebook are deep into politics in the U.S. which is not good. Facebook has a real problem right now with the U.S. Congress.
