You can create your clickbank account here:

clickbank.com

You can create your Commission Junction account here:

cj.com

Upon creating your accounts, you will be able to add links to your site right away with Clickbank, and for CJ you will be able to submit your application for certain programs and once approve, be able to add their affiliate links to your site.

hey guys. anyone know how long it takes for them to respond on CJ. I applied to 2 companies nearly 2 months ago! i am still awaiting decision! in the meantime I have been offered a place by two other companies whom I have not applied to. the only problem is, they have nothing to do with my niche!!!!

Thanks guys,

Good luck!

Hey DGreyling, ironically I just signed up for Clickbank today. Just go to http://www.clickbank.com. At the upper right of the first page, click on "create account". A page will come up with all the instructions. Just follow through them step by step. Hope this helps. Sincerely Jimmie

My highly educated IT friend said that he will completely customize my website. All we want to know is when he writes his own codes using his methods on an external platform, c

It depends on what he's writing. Ideally some of the code is called from within the theme or plugin code. And this means brushing up on or learning at least some of the mission-critical WordPress API. (He will know what I mean.)

There are ways to insert some JavaScript and CSS into "text" widgets into the footer (for example for deferred execution).

For insertions to the head of the document, access is generally through the header.php or functions.php file in the theme. Again, this will require having some knowledge of the WordPress API. CSS can be altered in the styles.css file. All of these files, plus footer.php and more are accessed via: WP Dashboard > Appearance > Editor menu.

Just a side note on this. If one is changing any of these files, it's best to activate a child theme for the main theme, and add at least a functions.php and styles.css to the child theme, plus any other files which will require a change. Such child theme files will be checked before the main theme, although the codex has more specifics on this.
see https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
see also a http://wordpress.org/plugins and search for child theme creators
(Such a child theme creator plugin may come in handy when themes are changed out regularly. The codex clearly spells out how to create your own, however.)

WordPress is set up supposedly for anyone to create a site. The plugins generally confer the more advanced features. But the whole system make it more convoluted for real developers. This is where getting the Wordpress codex from wordpress dot org will help.
see https://codex.wordpress.org

Hope this gets you started, Dylan, and helps answer some questions your friend has.

Thank you so much it definitely does.

You definitely put my mind at ease as i thought that I was very restricted to website development.

Anything can be done. Your friend could even write his own custom plugins for you, if he really wanted to.

But these hints should get him started on where to find some of the core scripts (or widgets) to which he will either add or create a tie-in.

Keep me posted!

I want a theme or plugin that can display my posts better, for now it looks like i have one long post?

You do not need a plugin for this. WP themes have either an 'excerpt' or a 'read more tag' and some themes have both options.

These show the blogroll in summary form, which is what I assume you are wanting to happen.

The excerpt option, if your theme has it, is automatic. You might need to click on the Screen Options Tab at the top right. Then tick the Excerpt box to enable the excerpt field to show up below the editor posting area.

The 'read more tag' has to be added manually for each post. This is my preference as I like to control the length of each blog summary on my blogroll page.

Probably in the early stages it is easier to use the 'read more tag' option. Here's training: In WP Settings > General > Reading: You can set how many post summary entries you wish to appear on each blogroll page.

Hi there! I just had a look at your site and I understand what you mean. Unfortunately I don't know of any free plugins that can do the same as what I am going to suggest but there may be something.

My suggestion is to take a look at a plugin called Thrive Content Builder. Take a look at youtube for some videos on Thrive Content Builder for a better understanding of what it can do.

I have used this on a few sites and its pretty good. There is a bit of a learning curve with it but there are lots of tutorials. However it is a premium plugin.

Hope that helps!

Andrew

Hi Andrew, I'll go have a look thanks,
