Lucky 13! Making an Impression - A big milestone achieved.

Last Update: May 13, 2020

Hi Folks,

Just checked my Google Search Console - To my surprise finally rolled over the 1 Million impressions mark - something I am have been aiming at since the beginning of the year.

It has taken a year and 13 days to reach that benchmark of "a cool one million!". Next stop is 1.5, and ultimately 3 million - 1 million impressions per month. Hopefully though by then I'll have double the rather low CTR and an average position of less than 20.

Note that this is over a 3 month period. For one reason or another I prefer to look at Google Search Console over a longer time frame than I do Google Analytics.

Over a longer time frame you get a better picture of the direction things are going or if what you are seeing is just a blip (like the spike you see above) or if you need to take some kind of action to correct things.

I'm pretty proud of that - 1 million impressions or 333.34k average per month over the past 3 months. Nice!.

Thank you kindly Mark - a big difference from about 50-60k during the first 3 months of building the site. That is how quickly things can snowball.

What's an impression?

Whatever it is that's a large number. Congratulations!

Thanks for asking.

An impression in Search Console is how many times keywords that are associated to your site are displayed on search engines when searched for.

one thing to keep in mind is Google search Console only records your top 1,000 Keywords, hence why you can find at times a big miscorrelation between you "clicks" (traffic from google only) and the actual traffic you are getting.
